I have downloaded the updates for Realtek HD Audio drivers for my HP Pavilion, I have update Roxio 2009, I have reinstalled the program twice.

I still can not playback audio from any part of Creator 2009. The Media Manager will not preview an audio track. The Videowave will create a perfect video file, but no audio. I can burn the perfect audio CD. But can not playback any audio.

I have exhausted all resources from the internet. My next move is to return the product.

Before I send it back, can anyone please give me some ideas?

Vista or XP?  Have you checked all your Windows audio settings both recording and playing?  Sounds like something is muted on your computer.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

I have Vista Home Media Pro. I can play any video, any audio, burn CD's and Burn DVD's. But when I go to Roxio Media Manager it won't let me preview the song. I press the play button and it does nothing.

Right out of the box Roxio should be able to play an audio file. I do not have any problems with Windows Media, Cowan Jet Aduio, DIVX, or any other program that plays audio files.

I did the Clean Uninstall / Install per the instructions, and still nothing.  It's like a setting in Roxio that is turned off, but I can't find the settings.

I assume that you first selected the audio file and then pressed the small arrow head next to the name.  What format are the audio files and what are the audio properties?  Where did you get them?  In Media Manager, right click on the file and select Properties and then details.  What is the information you see?

If you select "Edit Audio" (Sound Editor) and you add one of the files, does it play?

Did you install an audio application AFTER you installed Creator 2009?  It may have overwritten the codec.

Lame MP3, and I have tried WMA and FLAC, none have worked. The first big break was opening it with Quick Audio Editor, and it played perfectly.

still doesn't make sense that the Media Manager and rest of applications will not play the audio.

All are supported formats but you didn't answer my question of the properties.

I agree that it doesn't make sense.  Everything seems to be OK.  I'm not sure what else to suggest.  At this point, I hope that someone else would have an idea.

I'd ask where that file came from.
In all the music I have I can't find any that has a 168Kbps data rate.160 yes but 168 no.
Maybe Roxio is having trouble with that rate.Just a guess.

Have any other music that's recorded at 160,192 or some other rate?If so try that and see what happens.

Was not a film. MP3 audio file. I have tried everything from 96k to 320k and to FLAC. When I preview the file or play it in anything but the editor I do not hear anything. Actually it will not even go through the motions to play the file.

It seems Roxio support doesn't know anything either. I'm just going to have to TRY to return it, where I bought it.
