Hello,
I used The Capture Video to capture from my camcorder, and then MYDVD to create the DVD.   I chose a project type of DVD with no menu.  There's no problem capturing and burning, but when playing the DVD in my player,  the movie does not use the entire LCD-TV screen.  My camcorder has aspect ratio set to 16:9.   Is there a setting somewhere in the software that I missed?  Thanks for your help.

Your camcorder did not properly set the 16:9 flag, several do not…

Regardless if yours is a JVC or not, this utility should fix it up – Here

Edit: Doh! 2 other thoughts, the Player or TV may not be set properly – Make sure both are set to Widescreen.

Some camcorders do not actually do 16:9 but put a 16:9 picture over a 4:3 background. (applies to older camcorders) Nothing will really fix these.

Lots to try  laugh.gif  Let us know.

Another thought, I assume that you selected DVD with or without menus.  Did you go into project settings and select a 16:9 setting?
Does the menu look full screen?  If not, then it was created as a 4:3 disc.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Thank you Gurus!  I used the utility and it is working.  I have another question and I am trying to learn and understand.

When I capture VHS movies and create the DVD, the movie displays with aspect ratio 4:3 on the TV  (black screen on both sides of the movie), however, when  you play the actual VHS, it uses the full screen.  I'm assuming the VHS player is controlling the full screen view.  Is there a capture step or procedure to make VHS to DVD play in full screen or widescreen?

Thanks again.

Not sure, you have to play with the VCR settings. There is no setting in Roxio!

I have played with some like this and added them as an Overlay so I could stretch them to fit.

Results were poor! VHS is pretty low quality to start with and enlarging it only made it look much worse!

In the end I let the bars fall where they will… I have over 100 commercial DVD Movies and I can assure you the major studios can’t get it right either  laugh.gif

As far as I know, VHS tape is alway 4:3 and analog capture is always 4:3.  Every VHS tape that I've seen widescreen was letterboxed 4:3.  Now you could capture that 4:3 and then crop it to 16:9, but that will just make the quality worse because you will be resizing it.  I wouldn't do this unless it is something I really wanted as 16:9 and needed it bad enough. wink.gif
