Beginning a new thread since the last one was closed out.

I have Creator 2009, Service Park 4 installed. When using videowave, the preview button area that you identified with your screen capture on Nov 3, 2008, is missing from the program. I attempted all the fixes that were suggested with no resolution. Only looking for some assistance.  Already have DirectX9 installed and have the latest driver installed for  NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500.  I appeciate those that have offered suggestions, but the videowave preview toolbar is still not visible.  Any other suggestions?

System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Intel ®
Pentium ® D CPU 3.20GHz, 3.19GHz
3.50 GB of RAM
80 GB Hard Drive

What are "all the fixes"?

You [i]"already have DirectX 9"... What version & dates?

What resolution is your screen and are you set at 96dpi?

I am guessing by “Complete reinstall” you actually mean the Clean Install???

Nothing jumps out – call Roxio and let us know how you make out!

It is a Video Card issue…

If you have sufficient video card it works – if not, nothing will fix it.

I have a Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS PCI card running 512MB.  That's more than enough horsepower for Roxio.  When you save it's a "Video Card issue', what do you mean?

Make sure you have the latest drivers for that card!

Then you will have to do the Clean Install:

Vista
XP

Oops, sorry, my bad.  Shepcrew is the one I intended to quote.  Sometimes, multi-tasking, before one heads out the door, is not a good thing. smile.gif

The crazy thing is that I can double click on a video clip sitting in my timeline, and I have all of the controls available (and functioning) that you would normally have in the main preview window.

Let me do some more checking – I feel like there is something I am missing… huh.gif

Confirm we are talking about the buttons under the preview window in VideoWave???
VW_Overlay_Duration.jpg

The ones you see in Video Trimmer, when you double click are not the same.

Yes, those are the controls that MIA on my install.

I have been working with Roxio Support today, and they had me do a clean install as well (for the 2nd time) but still nothing positive.

There are 3 dots on the screen, where the controls should be located.  Dont know if that means anything, but I've advised Support of this as well.  If I can figure out how to attach a pic here, I will send.

Don’t need a pic – I have seen it!

One PC, with XP it was missing yet present on another HDD with Vista

I put in a video card and it worked OK after that…

2 other gurus responded to my query but no one remembers anyone ever fixing it. Check back tomorrow.

Further info from my end.  I cant run a msinfo32 command.  Seems that my Help & Support service wont start, even manually.  I will get one of my IT guys to look at this on Friday.

Hi Shepcrew, Jim, et al -

I'm going to aggregate some trouble shooting tips for you to help narrow this down a bit so we can hopefully pass this along to our engineers. Some of these suggestions you have tried before (or may not be totally replated) so just acknowledge the steps you have taken and the ones you haven't. We'll omit the clean install as you have already done this. Do NOT skip any steps.

1. Start up Videowave and see if the issue occurs. If it does, let it sit for a few minutes (like 5) and see if it shows up. This is related to steps 2 and 6, but let's not jump to 6 just yet.

2. You have applied all the steps in Improving Creator and Easy VHS to DVD performance

3. You have the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft.

4. In your computer's Display Properties, the screen resolution is set to 1024x768, the color quality is set to 32 bit, and your DPI is at 96 DPI.

5. Describe your production basically/very briefly: effects, video type, etc.

6. Try reducing your system load by going to Start -> Run and type "MSCONFIG" and all your Startup processes. This should do not disable your RoxioMediaDB11 service that is required for Videowave to run.

Hopefully this will either fix your issues or eliminate some key variables.

Thanks,

Jon

Ah, interesting. Look into that first before trying the steps I just passed along. If the issues is indeed system specific (on the OS level), they probably won't help that much  mellow.gif
