After dubbing VHS tapes to DVDs on a JVC VHS/DVD recorder and finalizing the DVD will play on various players and computers but when I try to IMPORT from DVD in SOUND EDITOR I get "read error"?
I have done this operation in SOUND EDITOR using a Sony VHS/DVD recorder to make the DVDs with no problems.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Sounds like a read error!
In Explorer copy the DVD contents and paste to a new folder you make on your desktop, see if that gives you a read error? If not use it from there...
