In reply to knobb28. I have same problem burning avchd to standard dvd. But i have only been able to burn 5minutes so far !
anything over this and i get build to device error after about 35% of burn. Ive tried all sorts of ways to get round this to no avail !
If anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated.
Using Vista premium, 2 gigs Ram, gforce8500.

I use XP SP3 and I have about 75% success with AVCHD disc. First, make sure you are using a menu even if you only have one title in the project Second, encode to an ISO file select a folder that you create especially for the ISO file; do not have anything in it. Select a quality close to what your original video quality is. After the encoding finishes, open your folder. If you see only the BV.. folder, you have to try again to a different folder. If you get the ISO file, great, just copy that to a disc.
Remember that you can only get about 30 to 40 minutes of HD video on an AVCHD disc.

Not really a solution…
One guru reports about a 50% success rate – or fail rate if you are of the half empty persuasion
I have personally seen 4 failures in a row and 1 success… That is using 3 different PC’s and 3 different burners.
Acutally there were about 7 attempts and the "burn" was to ISO which doesn't ever involve a burner.
