Hello,

I am a new user to Roxio, I normally use Nero but my new laptop comes installed with Roxio 10. I have a VERY basic question - why doesn't Roxio tell me how much space is on my disc before burning?

i.e. I am trying to burn some data but when I add the folder, select the round burn button, insert my blank disc, THEN roxio tells me I need to delete xxx space to fit. Where is the bar at the bottom that shows me how many mb I've used? Am I making any sense? Sorry I am not computer savvy so not sure if I am explaining myself correctly.

Thanks in advance!

In what application of your Roxio OEM version are you using?

The OEM Roxio Version that came pre-installed on your pc is a watered down version with limited functionality...

You obviously have to insert a disc before the program can tell you how much space you have on the disc. rolleyes.gif
Unless you are using session writing (where you create an appendable disc) knowing how much space is left on a disc is of no value since you can't write to an non-appendable disc.

If you are using the Sonic Data Disc burning program, it tells you how much free space you have near the bottom left of the screen; it also shows graphically how much you are using.

If you use Creator Classic, it tells you at the bottom how much space you've used, how much is left for the type of disc you are burning.

Of course if your software came with your computer, it's most like an OEM version which means it will have some features crippled or missing. Creator Classic may be one of these features.

Did you read my post on how to check on space left, etc?

hmmm...when I used Nero in the past, it did not require me to insert the disc in order for it to tell me how much space is left. There was a bar at the bottom that displayed mb used as I added files. Roxio does not do that. Is it something I need to download?

Think about blink.gif
If you don't have a disc in the drive, how can the program know how much space is available on the disc.

But Nero did!

Ok, I tried inserting the disc first and it did show me the space left on disc in the bottom left hand corner. Thanks for your help!

I still prefer Nero!

You're right - I somehow had the notion you were doing an appendable disc. Sorry!

The full EMC 10 does how how much space  you are using and how much you have left without a disc in the drive
