First I love the ease of use of this program and have been using it for a while now. It's an unstable, buggy, pile of poop. All I wanted to do on a slide show I made was sort the pictures by date. As soon as I did this the program would lock up, thus an hour of work wasted. It did this every time I tried to sort. I did manage to get it to save everything the way I wanted it but it took about an hour+ of : make a small change, save before it crashed....make another small change, save before it crashed.....make another small change, save before it crashed....

I have all the updates. I would love to get the 2009 but I'm afraid that would be throwing $100 in the garbage. Again, I really love the program. I just want it to work. Any fixes or tips I'm not aware of?

As soon as I did this the program would lock up, about 8 to 10 times in a row, thus an hour of work wasted. I did manage to get it to save everything the way I wanted it but it took about an hour+ of : make a small change, save before it crashed....make another small change, save before it crashed.....make another small change, save before it crashed....

We need to know a lot more about your computer. Please post your computer specs in your signature by going to "My Controls" at the top of this page and then look down to the left to edit your signature. Look at the type of information that other post. Minimum would be your Make and FULL model number and any add ons.

The types of frequent crashes that you are having may be related to a fragmented hard drive or an overfull proxy file folder. Defrag your hard drive - how much space do you have on it? Open MyDVD and if you go to tools, options, do you see a button to clear proxy files? If so, press it and now open your project. Once you have it open, repeat the clear proxy files. Don't worry, it won't harm your project. If you are doing a lot of editing like moving all those images around, just clear those proxy files about every half hour or so depending on how hard you are working.

Down and run CCleaner on your computer to get rid of all the other junk files.

Thanks, I haven't defraged in a while and actually have CCleaner. Haven't used that in a while either. I haven't been keeping up with my PC clean up.
Brief comp specs :
Intel Pentium D 3.0
2 GB ram
EVGA 8800GT 512GB
I have about 15 GB of free space on my hard drive.
I'll try the suggestion tonight, thanks.

15GB free space is barely enough to do any serious video work

Agreed. Depending on the size of the hard drive, it may be difficult to defrag without removing some files.
