On my last several movies I have created a specific folder for that movie only. All of the pictures, overlays, text and music are all saved to that folder.

My movie file which has a .dmsd format (?) I have put into another folder I have called My DVDs.

I have saved both of these folders to my portable hard drive (G drive)

Sometimes I find that I want to go back at a much later time and change or add something to the movie. By then some of the files have been misplaced or otherwise moved to the point where the movie will not play. In some cases I have removed the movie files from my computer.

Can I reload the original files from my G drive back to my computer being careful to use the original file path and reopen my original movie?

Can I also include the .dmsd file in that same folder with the rest of the movie?

If you restore the folders exactly to the same folders, you should be allright. The most important file to save is the dmsd file if you want to change your movie later on. This file is not a video file at all so "format" does not apply to it. The file is a complete list of your source file(video, audio, photos), the edits you made, transitions, effects etc. If you don't keep this file there is no way to work on the movie later on.

I prefer to create a folder for each project in keep my dmsd or dmsm file in that folder, I usually create a sub-folder in which I putt all the source file for the project. Keeping everything in one folder makes it easy to move and restore you project.

BTW, you should really be using Videowave to create your movie and then use myDVD to create the menus and do the burn.

Thank You MG.
I have my new computer coming in a few more days and if possible I would like to transfer some of my movies to the new computer. Your suggestion for a folder with the .dmsd file in it is good with a subfolder for all of the source files. I will do that on my next movie.

And yes, I will use Video Wave for my next movie.
