I have experienced a problem a problem in the sizing of scanned 35mm slides. Scanned photgraphs always "fill" the screen, but with slides this is not the case. They never fill the screen and the only solution I have found to overcome this is to use the Collage feature found in Roxio's, PhotoSuite 10, "Photo Project". Unfortunately, this is very time-consuming and would appreciate help in finding a better solution.
I am usiing an Epson 4490 scanner.
Thank you so much,
Pete

No problem.
I finally noticed that we have the same scanner. I haven't used it for scanning slides though so I'll just go by with my experience in scanning photos.
When you say "never fills the screen", are you saying the image on the Epson preview screen of the scanned slide does not fill up that screen?
Is there an icon(button) on the Epson preview screen that allows you to just "box in" (sorry, I forgot the phrase I would like to use) the actual image shown on the preview screen? If so, push that button and drag the handler of the resizing box to place the image perfectly on that box and then press OK to finally capture that image onto a file. Only the image in that box will appear in the final file.
Do come back and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your response. I totally understand your input. My difficulty is not with the Epson preview screen, it is with the image after the scanning takes place. For some reason, only with slides, when I open the recently digitized image it doens't fill the entire screen. It takes up about 1/3 the space and is centered. This does not occur when I scan photographs, regardless of theri orginal size. I am setting the dpi to 600. I haven't attempted to go any higher (e.g. 1,200), but perhaps I should.
I hope I was able to communicate this in an undstandable fashion.
Thank you again for your help,
Pete

Scanning slides is much different than scanning photos. You will need a much higher resolution try something like 1800. Remember the number of pixels that you scan will need to fill your screen (or close to it) and still give some resolution. Since photos are much larger, they do not need to be blown up as much from the original.
