I also have Creator 2009 Ultimate and found it will not install on Windows 7. Roxio expects you pay $60 for an upgrade to standard or $80 for Pro. What a rip off. I have only had 2009 for 6 months and now it is useless.
I Am Not Very Savvy. I Installed Windows 7 And Blamed Roxio For Windows 7 Breaking The Roxio Software. I'm Not Very Smart.

You won't like my answer and I can't blame you but if it's possible for you, add another hard drive or partition the one you now use and install XP so you can dual boot. I actually think it's better to upgrade to Creator 2010 but that's just me.
You can't expect Roxio to do things differently not knowing who will or won't upgrade to W7. Lots of people are happy with their XP or Vista. For those who aren't, they made sure C2010 will work in Windows 7.

In my view, a product called "2009" should at least work for the whole of calendar year 2009.
Am I missing something? I am planning to refer this to my local trading standards team to see what legal recourse may exist. In the UK, I think Roxio's action could be illegal under the Sale of Goods Act.
Any thoughts or advice will be appreciated.

You decided to pay MS to 'upgrade' - but you expect Roxio to let you do it for free?

Have you read the Requirements and Specifications? The package lists Windows XP and Windows Vista; Windows 7 is not part of the list. Few months ago, Roxio Creator 2010 came out, about two months before Windows 7 — and one year after Roxio Creator 2009 was released way back in 2008.
Why didn't you get the latest and Windows 7 compliant Roxio software?
By all means, let us know how your law suit goes!
BTW: Several had success bringing Roxio Creator 2009 to run on Windows 7, given you install Creator2009SP4 and pxengine3_00_58a after a fresh install and before any attempt to run the application. Others had not been successful. Also be aware that some Antivirus and Anti-Spy/Malware may remove or block essential components and/or Registry entries!
Happy Holidays!

I just got Roxio 2009 and never used it before upgrading my OS to Windows 7. Fortunately I bought the "Ultimate" edition. It has the Windows XP virtual system. So I switched to XP and installed Roxio Creator 2009 there. It works just fine in XP mode.

I know we have no legal recourse, but we can always file a claim with the BBB.

Strange how people pay a lot more for the latest operating system - then complain because programs designed for an earlier one won't work.

I purchased Roxio 2009 Ultimate many moons ago for me AND the wife. So we have 2 copies one on each of our computers.
However we BOTH just purchased brand new systems with Windows 7. I am not looking for a freebie but I want to know how I can upgrade without hassles.
I have gone here http://www.roxio.com/enu/upgrade_center/em...rs/default.html and see the price for $59.00 for the upgrade however my real question is that I do NOT want to install Roxio 2009 on my Windows 7 machine just to upgrade. So can I purchase the 2010 Upgrade and not have to install my 2009 version? Can I just use the key for the upgrade?
I am saying this because other software upgrades usually check your machine for what is installed etc... Thanks for your time.
And yes I want to upgrade both of my 2009 versions to 2010. Unless someone can tell me that I as a family can have it on two computers

Buy the upgrade, then download and install Creator 2010 on your PC. Skip the Creator 2009 install.
