I input tracks from 2 different CDs to create 1 Project with 24 tracks. I saved the project as well.
I dragged tracks from the 1st CD to the project. Then dragged tracks from the 2nd CD to the project.
Then I wanted to burn a CD of the mixed project.
The instructions for doing this are very cut and dried:
create a project (playlist),
put a blank recordable CD in the drive and
click the burn symbol/button
Unfortunately, it didn't work. When I tried to burn a CD from the project, I got a Creator error.
It read as follows:
"The instruction at '0x00e9b0b2' referenced memory at '0x01c5004c'. The memory could not be read".
These would appear to be machine-level addresses or locations. (I have been a mainframe programmer for 40+ years.)
I would like to know what this means and how it can be corrected. Or if it is covered in a software upgrade.
Is this a known bug? Does it have to do with drivers or device acknowledgement?
Is it because the software creates non-standard (Roxio) music files (.rcl).
Even though a person shouldn't have to convert these files to create a CD, I will gladly do it with proper instructions from you.
Because the instructions are simple enough for a dog to follow.
I don't have the time to wade through other people's posts looking for this exact problem.
Most non-technical people find it difficult to explain these things anyway.
I have owned this software for over 5 years and have made CDs from vinyl or made copies of CDs for friends.
I am fairly certain that I have created a project and burned a CD from the project before.
This time, I wanted to make a mix of 2 CDs by creating a project.
It didn't seem like a complicated manoeuver to me.
I need to get a fix for this quick. So please help. Do you send an email so I know when to look for an answer?

First of all this is just a users forum where we are just users helping each other, you will seldom see a Roxio employee in these forums and then only in the forums that they still support. ECD 6 has been out of production for over 5 years and is no longer supported.
Have you ripped the audio tracks from the CDs to your hard drive? Are you trying to make an audio CD or just a data CD?
Also, the rcl file is not an audio format file - its just your project file.

There is a limit of 70 minutes to an Audio CD - assuming that is what you are trying to create. The amount of music on 2 CDs is generally more than 70 minutes in total (altho with some old, short CDs, I've gotten 2 CDs on 1 CD-R for an Audio CD).
If you just dragged the files into the project, and then removed the CD from the tray, all you would have is an address in the .rcl file - it is a map of what you want to make, and does not contain the actual file. You would need to have the original where it was when you created the .rcl file.
BTW - a "mixed CD" means a mix of audio and video. If you are simply including audio from different sources, that is a "compilation CD".
Lynn
edit - correct to "compilation CD"

Sorry Lyn,
Wrong again. We can't have you putting the members wrong with stuff you are confused about.
Manufacturers commonly express disc capacity in terms of how much Red Book digital audio (in minutes) and computer data (in megabytes) a disc can contain. Historically, 63 minute/550 MB (12 cm) and 18 minute/158 MB (8 cm) discs were once available but are now rendered obsolete by advances in recording technology. Currently, 74 minute/650 MB, 80 minute/700 MB (12 cm) and 21 minute/185 MB (8 cm) discs are the market standards.

That's not a common definition, and certainly not one you should scold someone else with.
