I have a Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player, the firmware is current at v2.7. The operating manual states that this model can play DVD-R discs with AVCHD format v1.0.
I have Toast v9.0.5 and the Blu-ray plug-in. Can Toast create a High Def on DVD-R disc that is playable on the BD30 (AVCHD format v1.0)?
My source file is 1080i Apple Pro Res QuickTime from Final Cut, 7 minutes in length, stereo audio.
I have tried AVC MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 options under the Blu-ray Video options but all attempts are rejected by the player as incompatible. If I burn to BD-R media it does work.
I have found references that state the BD30 can't play DVD-R with the Blu-ray format and one reference that was successful.

Any detailed information on how to accomplish this would be appreciated.

Well, after some further testing, I've answered my own question.
My original attempts were apparently at too high of a bit rate: 15Mbps Avg, 20Mbps Peak.
Just for grins I dropped the bit rate down to "DVD" standards below 8 Mbps and this DVD-R is accepted.
I'll continue to waste additional media to determine the max bit rate acceptable.
