Capturing Easy VHS to DVD

I have tried DVD+Rdl 8x 8.5GB 240min. I capture an entire movie, to find out that only 17min burned to the DVD. Can some one help?

Please list each step you took to get the movie to your pc, and then how you attempted to burn that captured movie onto your blank dvd. Please state the programs you used in your suite during these steps, and the brand of discs you are using. Also, posting you pc's specs wouldn't hurt....
