Creator 2009 had been working flawlessly for me, until a couple weeks ago when evidentally a software upgrade to an unrelated program gave me a "R6025 Pure Virtual Function Call" error whenever I opened up "Burn Audio CD" from the main Creator 2009 menu ...

I did a clean install of Roxio 2009 (+SP4) and all worked fine until yesterday. Got the same error message as above, and so I did another clean install.

Now the cd record program will open without error, but when I try to burn a disc, any disc, I get the following error:

Sense: 00 ASC: 00 ASCQ: 00 Error (Command 00)
px.dll: 4.8.39.500
PxAFS:DLL: 4.8.39.500
pxdrv.dll: 1.02.34a
pxMas.dll: 4.8.39.500
pxSFS.DLL: 4.8.39.500
PxWave.dll: 4.8.39.500
pxwma.dll: 1,0,0,3

The error happens when trying to burn data discs or music discs.

I am running Windows XP SP3.

- Using Roxio "Music Disc Creator 2009" I can burn discs without any problems...

- Using Roxio "Roxio Creator Classic 2009" I can burn discs without any problems...

This might help you understand waht is going on:

ASC 30: Incompatible medium installed/Cannot read Medium - Unknown Format/ Cannot read Medium - Incompatible Format. ASCQ 05: L-EC Uncorrectable error. Find out what Dual Layer media is 100% compatible with your writer

1. Use a quality media and not the cheapo --- Verbatim is good
2. Check your drive firmware level against the manufacturer's latest level
3. Be sure your drive is in DMA mode verses PIO mode.

When the error code is all zeros, there are many cases where the error code the drive produces is not received by the application due to an unstable connection or interference from running programs.

Did you follow the clean uninstall and reinstall instructions for your version in my signature?

Why not make your music Cd's in Music Disc Creator and Data Disc's in Creator Classic?

If they work (Music Disc Creator & Creator Classic) it's the Home application that has a problem, not your drives firmware, DMA Setting, or disc used!

ASC 05 or ASC 30 don't seem likely to help the OP when his drive is reporting ASC 00, Dave. sad.gif

Brendon,

Repeating clean installs and ending up with the same result has a definition. Something else has to change.

My bad! angry.gif  I fat fingered the error code lookup.
