First I have a version that came with a TSST Corp cd/dvdw SH-S182D (toshiba samsung) it is labled Creator XE 8.2 it also states that it is a Roxio System Builder Program and contains many fuctional tools including Photo Suite. The problem is that during a reinstallation attempt the set up program hangs when in its final stage of copying files. The disk is not physically flawed as I am able to open all of its files seperately be it using only note pad to open the files. My machine and hard drive are ample to handle the programs as the program worked fine before I had uninstalled it. My os is xp pro with sp 3. I have disabled and or shut down all programs anti virus before my installation attempts but it still does not finish setup. HELLLLP!

You will have to do a clean install as described here.  Print it off so you can follow it closely; don't add or skip any steps.

Unfortunately the are a lot of items left on your machine that were not uninstalled so they block a complete new re-installation.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
