What's the deal with this software?  I just bought this yesterday at Target because I needed to replace a very old version of EMC from 2002 or 2003.  I primarily just use the Creator Classic and haven't been able to find anything close to it.  When I saw this I figured it would be a good replacement.  Actually, I haven't had any major problems except a couple of crashes.

I noticed the copyright date is 2007 and the software keeps saying no updates available.  If this software is no longer supported, why is it still being sold?  I prefer Creator Classic because I like the option to backup without compression.  I have Norton Ghost to do that for my entire system.  I just need a real backup of certain folders in case of an emergency.

Is the Creator Classic available in more current versions of Roxio products?  The product descriptions online for later versions are so vague and do not say whether you have the option to backup without compression.  I also don't need all the bells and whistles higher priced versions include.  I use higher-end software from Adobe for video and audio.

Hello,

This software shouldn't be being sold now, since it is over two years old and no longer supported. However if vendors still have copies on the shelves after two years I wonder how they can be stopped from offering it for sale?

Please be aware that this version of the software is severely restricted in its abilities by design, and is no longer supported by its age.

Creator Classic is available in this version, and also in later versions, although as time goes by more abilities are being stripped from it. The aim seems to be to provide a much simplified Sonic product to take the place of this versatile Roxio product.

If you are just after the abilities of Creator Classic you would probably be best to keep using this version, rather than buying a later and more castrated version.

Creator Classic is available in the current version, Creator 2009 and all previous full versions of the Roxio software.

Starting with Easy Media Creator 8, the ability to make a music CD was stripped from Creator Classic and transferred to a program, in the suite, named Music Disc Creator.
