You don't have to,they will run side by side. When you install V8 it will tell you of some changes that are being made though. If you don't want both versions on your machine then uninstall 7.5 before installing V8.

If you use Capture to capture from your hard drive, yes you should uninstall version 7.5, reboot, do all you have to do install version 8 Deluxe, reboot, then install version 7.5.

Version 8 totally disables capture from the hard drive.  It is a serious bug in version 8, that probably won' be fixed.  If you install 8 first, then 7.5, you will be able to capture from your hard drive in version 7.5.  There is no way to capture from your hard drive in version 8.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm assuming you mean if I capture video to my hard drive from my camcorder.  If that's the case, and I can't use Capture should I really do an upgrade at all?

I thought that this version was stable.

Any thoughts on what I should do?  Should I ask for a refund?

No, you can capture from your video camera, to your hard drive.  I am talking about a situation if you have files on your hard drive already, that need to be captured.  One such situation would be if you copied a mini disc from a video camera, to your hard drive, because for whatever reason, you could not capture from the minin disc.  I have had this happen many times when trying to make DVD's of my daughter's home videos.

In this situation not only will version 8 not work, it disable the ability in version 7.5, so install the way I said to in my first post, if you want that capability.
