Hello All:

Would someone please help me understand what I am doing wrong? I recently updated from easy meida 7 to easy media 8 and tried to create my first DVD. I decided I would try one windows media file (a video song) first. First I tried using the "Quick DVD Creation" application. Within this applicaton it appers only the decoding process works and then i get a message saying project completed but disc was still blank.

Then, I tried using the "Create or Edit DVD Project". I insterted my blank disc and then hit create disc. This took me to a page with the option to burn disc. I clicked burn and the process began. After a series of application processing like decoding etc. I can see where the application is trying to burn to the disc and after a while I get a message saying project completed. When I check the disc, it's still blank.

Am I doing something wrong?

Open up the "Videowave" program, enter all your photos, videos and audio files. do any editing necessary, save it as a DMSM file (name of your choice) and then open "MyDVD" program and import that dmsm file. do any optional editing, preview it and if O.K., burn it to a DVD.

I followed your direction and this time I got the recording to the DVD but I can't play it on my computer or on my DVD player.

When I tried to open the disc on my computer is just says function is not availalbe but when I open Easy Media 8 and check disc information, I can see that the file has been recorded. it says DVD-R Closed, Data; Below are some information of my process.

I don't know what you did but it should say DVD-R, closed, DVD video if you created a proper DVD video disc.

What is the file structure on the DVD when you look at it with Windows Explorer. You should have a Video_TS folder containg a file structure similar to what you see in the image below

On a side note: My Roxio creator 8 crashed yesterday and I had to do a complete re-install; after 3 tries, I finally got the installation to complete successfully. I just can't understand how this program is so complicated. I used 4 dvd's trying to test one music video to make sure this applicaiton work and with no success.

I just tried another burn attemp. I load the music vidow in video was then from within that application, I clicked burn using express dvd, i chose burn with no menu option. The project completed successfully but no data on DVD.

I know the DVD's (TDK dvd-R) works because I can burn using other applicatons.

Just to rule out a couple of items, what pc do you have -specs- such as CPU, memory, etc and what operating system are you using.

EMC 8 is 3 versions behind the latest. Where did you get it?

The above shows that you did not create a video DVD but a data DVD. Can you not simply show what files are listed on that disc using Windows Explorer? There is no need to open anything at this point.

Video card: NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2 Model 64 (32 MB)
Monitor resolution is set at 1152 by 864 pixels

I realize I am using an older version (Version 8). I bought this program at Fry’s about 2 years ago but never installed it until now. I liked Easy Media 7. With Easy Media 7 I still could not make a DVD video but I disregard this feature since I could have done music which was my interest at that time. Now I have accumulated a few vacation videos and figured I would try to put them on DVD. I upgraded to Easy Media 8 and then begin with my first DVD burn (a simple windows media file –video song).

I would really like to know that this DVD application works before I go and invest in an upgrade that I may end up having the same problems. And it appears support from Roxio is extremely limited. If I can’t get this to work I will consider moving away to a different application brand.

Digital Guru – The files showing on the DVD is not what you indicated above. This could be because the application is not working because I am following the program guide – (create project and burn) and I am sure the DVD’s are good as I have used them to make other windows media videos. I am thinking there may be compatibility issues with applications and hardware.

What do you guys think? I appreciate both of your help.

Why did you click Create Project, after adding your VideoWave file? Try burning the project, right after you add the VideoWave file.

I imagine, like myself there and many of frustrated customers that buys easy media and we get to go back and forth among ourselved in user groups and the Seller (Roxio) just sit back and collect its revenue.

I bought this program 3 years ago, when my computer hardare would be considered adequate at the time per the version of easy media (7 or 8). Now I am hearing, regardless of what I think, the hardware may be the problem. The bottom line for $80.00 we should should not get a puzzle to solve among ourselves.

Looking at your post, that I responded to, it was a lot of user error, because you actually created a new project, AFTER you brought in your VideoWave project.

Good luck with your next software.
