I have a Dell C640 Latitude running Win 2000 Pro that had EZ CD creator 5 installed and was working fine. I dont know when or why but it started having an issue where it cannot burn cd's with Media Player or ezcd creator. It comes up with a box that says EZ CD Creator initialization has failed: (could not load (cdr4) )
I have removed and reinstalled the program from the origianal disk and updated but stilll no go. Cant burn CD's
I have removed the program and used a Ccleaner and Revo uninstaller to completly remove it and reinstalled it but still no luck.
No help from Roxio they just tell you to buy the latest $80.00 version of the program as if thats going to fix it. If the original program isnt working what makes them think a new program will work.

Unless you have kept your Dell totally "original" with absolutely no new software and no Windows updates installed, my guess is that an update is conflicting with your ancient software. That's why a new program would work. I'm sorry, I don't know any other cure for this ageing problem.
However if you're buying new software, be sure to check your C640's capabilities against the minimum hardware requirements for your new software. I wish you success.

Is the version of ECDC 5 you have one that came from Dell, or one you purchased separately?
Upgrading to Internet Explorer 7 was known to break ECDC 5, as was upgrading Windows Media Player past a certain version, (mayhap going above version 8?). So, it's possible that one of those has broken your 6-version-obsolete ECDC 5. (Since then there has been ECDC 6, Easy Media Creator 7, 7.5, 8, 9, 10, and the current version is Creator 2009.)
