Whenever my Blackberry 8330 does an update, it removes most of my Easy CD/DVD Burning software.  All that remains is the Drag & Drop.  I then have to find the program cd and reinstall.   Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Hi Howard,

I can't answer your question yet because I only have the Easy CD and DVD Burning software, and nothing to do with a Blackberry.

What software gets updated when "my Blackberry 8330 does an update"?  [i.e. what other Sonic/Roxio software are you running]

Does Easy CD and DVD Burning run properly when you have reinstalled it between Blackberry updates?

Thanks,
Brendon

The Blackberry Desktop Manager software.

The software is the Blackberry Desktop Manager.  And yes, it runs fine when it is installed.

Hi Howard,

I've been off finding out things for you. I'm advised that:-

-Roxio is included with BlackBerries as an install option. However, the support for Media Manager is handled by BlackBerry and not Roxio.

-The installation behaviour is designed to remove other software which may conflict, and can't be changed.

-Media Manager for BlackBerry is merely the Media Manager you find in Creator with no burning options, etc. If a customer ever gets stuck, they can always bypass Media Manager as a file transfer option by turning on "mass Storage" in their BlackBerry.

To do this on most BlackBerries, go to Options > Media Card. And make sure the following are turned on:
  • Media Card Support = On

  • Mass Storage Support = On

  • Auto enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected = Yes

This will allow the BlackBerry to be seen as thumb drive on their computer.

This suggests to me that if you need/want to, you could do without the Roxio Media Manager option, but if you do have it you'll have to tolerate the uninstall at update time. [Let's hope that updates aren't too frequent]. Blackberry support might be able to help you more.

Best regards,
Brendon
