Buffer Under Run - Illegal Request [05/21/02]

The "experts" at the shop suggested that Creator 7 was old and incompatible with the new faster processors (I'm still using my PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109 SCSI if that's issue). They gave me NERO 7 EXPRESS, which I think is a piece of junk, but it burnt both CD & DVD perfectly.
I finally bought myself a copy of Creator 2009 today, assuming that the latest Roxio would solve all my problems. Imagine my disappointment when I was again facing the error message of "BUFFER UNDER RUN - ILLEGAL REQUEST [05/21/02]", with a bonus of "UNSPECIFIED ERROR [0x15210203].
I've already checked for Upper and Lower Filters, no luck.
Any ideas why NERO works and CREATOR 2009 fails?

Downloaded and installed Service Pack 4.
It's gotten worse, now Creator is completely failing to recognize my DVD-RW and DVD-ROM.
Both are still recognized by Windows and otherwise working fine.

Downloaded and installed PX ENGINE 4.10.28a.
Creator once again recognizes my DVD-RW and DVD-ROM, but attempts to burn still result in the same, original error message.

In the burn dialog, there should be an option for buffer under run. Also you can try to burn to an image file (to a folder on your computer) and then copying that image file to the disc. It won't really take that much extra time.
Have you looked to see if there is a firmware update for your burner? You might want to blow it out with compressed dry air. Protect your eyes. or run a cleaner disc through it.
Are you using good quality discs. Stay away from store brands and Memorex.
I don't know why that other product is not giving you a problem unless it it automatically set to prevent buffer under run errors and Creator 2009 was not.

The problem was occurring with all three applications, data, video and audio.
I have it set for buffer under run. I always create an image file before burning.
I have now changed to a new DVD-RW thinking that the problem might have been an elderly burner. I now have an LG GH22LP20 with the latest firmware updates.
I now seem to be successfully burning CD and data. DVD is still failing but I'm no longer receiving the original error message. What is happening now is VideoConvert is crashing.
I only use Taiyo Yuden blanks for DVD and data, they've never been a problem in the past.

Taiyo are great. Seems like the newer burner has helped. Make sure nothing else is running when you are working. Something is slowing down you computer (anti-virus). Try burning at minimum speeds from a defragmented hard drive. Is the burner internal or external?
You mean Video Copy and Convert? Are you just copying or are you using video compilation?

I'm just copying.
I have Norton360 running on my system.
I always burn at slowest available speed.
I shall defrag the hard drive, it's been a little since it was last done.
The burner is internal.

Now burning a DVD, when it fails I get the error message "Power on reset or bus device reset occurred - Unit attention." [06/29/00]

Disable Norton 360, when you are using the Roxio software. Norton 360, more than likely, is causing your problem.
Oh, and your burner might be roached, too.

Disabled the Norton 360 during burn.
Finally succeeded in burn a DVD, but the burner seemed to be really struggling at times (maybe I shouldn't be watched so intently).
Thanks. Hopefully it will continue to work.

I am glad it is working now, but make sure that you have the latest firmware, for your burner. If it doesn't improve the burns, the burner may be headed south, on you.
