I'm running MYDVD 9 suite on a Vista system. Trying to made a dvd with video files. When I click on add new movie and the movie folder opens up, I can see the mpg files, but there is a red x over most of the avi files and it does not allow me to add these files. I've reinstalled the software a couple of times but it still does not work. Only the avi files seem to be a problem. Any sugestions as to what I can do ?

Hi,
A red X on AVI files usually means that you don't have the right decoder for those files, or that you have a cut-down OEM version of the software.
If you have an OEM version which came bundled with a drive or your computer, please read this topic for an explanation.
If you have a full retail version, then you need to get codec(s) to match the AVIs you're trying to use. An AVI file contains compressed video, but you need a decoder which matches the way the video was compressed. There are quite a lot of different decoders.
A good Codec Pack for Vista can be found here as a free download. Click on the blue download button there, as the red button is an attempt to get you to buy a video converter.
If that codec pack doesn't solve your problems, come back here and we can give you some diagnostic suggestions.
