I've purchased a new Dell Studio XPS 435T - mainly because I want to run Creator 2009 Ultimate on a strong new box.

That, and my old PC is 7 years old  rolleyes.gif

Tonight I'm setting it up and powering up for the first time.  I'll make sure that everything is good to go and all patches are installed before adding Creator.

I read the info about a clean install, also some folks with fresh installs running into problems.

Question - should I do anything special to make sure that the software installs cleanly?

Please note the following software that comes installed - not sure what it really is:

Roxio Creator 10.2 Premium Blu-Ray

Thanks for your help!

That is one helluva great computer you built!

Just make sure that you don't have any virus software, or other junk running, when you install the Creator 2009 program.  Hopefully, it will go well for you.

Thanks for the props - I guess the shopping experience sort of got away from me! smile.gif

Do I need to uninstall the version of Creator that came with it, or will this go on top of it?

If you think that you will use the 10.2 Premium, then try to install the Creator 2009, without uninstalling the 10.2 Premium.  Just make sure you install to a different folder than the 10.2 is in.

I think that the Creator 2009 installer will install it to a Creator 2009 folder.  If it doesn't show up that way, before you actually install, set up a new folder with the 2009 name.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't know anything about this 10.2 Premium other than it's on the default install for my new Dell.  I don't know if there's any reason to keep it installed, given that I'm planning to install Creator 2009 Ultimate.

Do you think I should keep it ala letting sleeping dogs lie?   huh.gif

The other question would be whether you know of anything in 10.2 that's either better than C2K9U or is lacking in the new version.

Print out the clean install instructions and just do step 1. Then try the install. After that then apply service pack 4.

P.S.  I'll swap PCs with you. smile.gif
