I have now spent about 6 hours trying to install this program.  My anti-virus is OFF.  Various things have popped up to this point and I have followed the recommended solutions for each, including removing MS NET Frame 3.1 SP1, 2009 content error hot fix, and now 2 clean uninstalls.  I note that the instructions for the Clean Uninstall will NOT remove the 2009 SE folder from Program Files using the Control Panel -Add/remove progams as Roxio does not show as one of the installed programs (I assume because the program installation is never completed).

After following Clean Install, then restarting the computer, going into Explorer shows the 2009 SE file under Program Files with 2 folders still installed (5.0 & Roxio Central 4).  I manually deleted this folder (and emptied Recycle Bin), thereby to my knowlege purging all trace of RC2009SE from my computer.  Yet when I attempt install I still get only as far as "Installing Cine Player" which seems to run to conclusion, then the "rolling back" procedure begins anew.

To add insult to injury, when I used the "No" radio button on the Clean Install web page, then basically wrote the above description and hit send, I received a "Server Error in '/' Application" notice, so I couldnt even reply that the Clean Install does not work.  So I ended up here.

What do I do next????  I don't see any other options on the Forum.  Was hoping to do some work this weekend but instead have wasted 2 days just tyring to load the program.   Should I have bought Nero 9 instead?  I need HELP.

Thank you.

Try this procedure, it's for version 10 but it still might fix the issue.

Then do a clean install. If you are using a media, then copy it to your HD and install from there.

Print out the instructions and don't skip any steps.

What are your system specifications?

I don't think this will help as I am not getting as far as the EM installation before it starts roll back.  I did originally have a problem with it rolling back at EMC, but followed the "remedy" for that issue that was posted on the forums and no longer get the "EMC 10 must be installed before content" prompt.  I did use msicuu2.exe as I believe that was part of the "clean install" recommendation that I have run at least 3 times.

What are your system specifications?

windows XP, AMD 4800+, 2gig ram, Nvidia 8800GT video, 149 GB open on HD.

And btw, that was MS Net 3.5 SP1 that I removed....
