While I record from an LP, I can not find a way to listen to what I'm recording, while it's being recorded. I have also used the program that came with my turntable, Audacity, and there is a simple way to monitor what is being recorded. I've checked with Roxio Tech support and I can't seem to get resolution to the problem. I've checked my sound card for up dates and it up-to-date.
After I record, I can play it back with no problem.
I also have a problem while recording from an LP, it hangs up and stop (freezes) anywhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes. I have it set to record 60 minutes.
I'm using a brand new HP w/Vista OS and 64 bits.
Any ideas would be welcom!

Well, we need to start with, how are you feeding the input from your turntable into your computer? Are you using a sound card (possibly built into the motherboard) or a USB device? If you're using a USB device, what device is it? Does your turntable have a USB connector? Some other USB capture device, and if so, which one?
My quick guess is that you're using some sort of USB device, and probably not the Roxio USB Capture device. In that case, you're probably as well of using Audacity to do the actual capture. Using a USB device presents a special challenge to the software because it has to redirect the input back to your sound card as it's being captured in order for you to do that. Since Audacity came with your turntable, it's expecting to do that. If you were using the Roxio device, with Roxio software, it would know to do that too.
Anyway, once you have the music captured/digitized, you can then open it with Sound Editor to do any post-capture processing you want to do. (Splitting out individual tracks, equalization, click/pop removal, etc.)
And which software is freezing up after 30 seconds to 3 minutes, the Roxio software? Or Audacity?
Let us know!

I'm feeding with a USB connector, USB Audio CODEC.
Regarding the software, it's both of them.

Okay... so I'm sort of guessing from what you said, that your turntable has a USB connector coming directly out from it? Does your turntable also have regular RCA jacks coming out of it?
Next question(s), when you are capturing from your turntable, are you capturing to your hard drive? (I'm hoping the answer is, "yes".) If you try to listen to the file, can you hear music from it? (If you need to, try just capturing a short segment so you stop recording before the program freezes up.) Do both programs (Roxio and Audacity) work the same way? (Either both give you sound in the captured file, or both don't give you sound in the captured file.)
I don't have Vista, so maybe someone with Vista will jump in if they have any ideas about the programs freezing up.

There has always been a problem with listinening to what is being recorded with the USB turntables especially with audio chips rather than audio cards.
Just a wild guess, do you have your anti-virus enabled when you are capturing? Turn it off during capture if you do have it running.
