I have been using Creator for several years now. (7.0,9.0, 10 and now 2009 Ultimate) Had been running on HP laptop with Windows XP-SP3, with no problems. Had to replace laptop and now have Toshiba Satellite M305 / Intel Core2Duo T6400 2ghz / 4.0 GB Ram / Vista Home Premium SP1 / 64 bit OS.

Installed Creator 2009 from original CD onto new laptop and have installed updates SP4. Everything seemed to be working as before, except I have noticed that I can't change the transitions in Video Wave. I follow the workflow that has been specified on this forum... 1) make slideshow, 2) edit in Video Wave, 3) make DVD in MYDVD, 4) output to .iso file and then 5) burn disk image.

I normally set the transitions in Slideshow to default to all dissolves. Then I would change a couple of the transitions at the beginning and end of the video in VideoWave. In the past I could double-click on the transition (dissolve) in VideoWave, it would popup an edit window where I could pick from a whole display of transitions. Now it just pops-up a Set Transition Duration window, with the only option of adjusting the time.

Any idea where the transitions have gone? Any other suggestions?

I have never, ever used the Slideshow program, so not a clue there.

I would try it by starting in VW and see what happens. – just do a quick test and get back to us.

In VW: try setting to Software Render – Tools – Options – Render. See if that helps???

I can't duplicate your performance using XP starting in Slide Show Assistant and editing in Video Wave nor if I start in Video Wave.  Sorry.  Perhaps someone with Vista can help if the change to software render doesn't work.  Be aware that you will not have access to the 3D transitions; some dissolves are in that category.

I'm not sure where you saw the suggestion to start in one of the Slide Show Assistants.  I don't think any one who uses the program frequently would have suggested that.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

When you double-click a transition it pops up a window where you can set the duration for all transitions plus you can also select a new transition. Unfortunately this selection will change all transitions. As far as I know this has always been like that and has been a big complaint from many users.

I don't believe any workflow in this forum recommends you start with Slideshow - the recommendation is to start with Videowave and totally ignore Create Slideshow since that is a very limited wizard meant for very simple slideshows.

To change a transition, select it then select "add transition" and follow instructions

I checked the Tools>Options>Render settings for both hardware and software... nothing changes.

Also clicked on Add Transition... Add Transition window pops up with the message "There are no items to show in this view."

I know that when I was using XP there were numerous transitions to choose from, and when you applied one you could then click on the transition to change the properties/setting/animation/speed etc.

It seems like in Vista all of these have disappeared...

So far everything else seems to work the same in Vista (actually a lot faster with new laptop).

Hope I can find the transitions...

Sorry, it’s not the software…

List the specs for your PC and be sure to include your video card.
