I am using Windows Vista and Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 DE. When I use the copy function, it will read the original DVD fine, but then it says to put in the blank (I have one drive). I try to put in a blankand I have the DVD+RW but it will not recognize that I have put in the blank. I am not a computer person, but I really need help. Thanks for your time and expertise.

The DE version of Roxio is a Dell OEM version. Support comes from Dell.

Do you have more than one CD/DVD drive? if yes, be sure you put the blank into the correct drive (and you select that drive for writing).

Dave, the OP alreay said that she had only one drive.

See if you can copy the DVD to your hard drive and then copy from there. You said that the drive will read but will it allow you to put the DVD on your hard drive? How much free space do you have on your hard drive? Since DE is a cut down version of the software, what "copy" function are you using the name of the application. Where did you get the file? What is on the DVD?

How long have you had the computer and have you been able to copy before this one DVD? Without your computer information, it is hard to guess what is wrong. Will you burner burn +RW discs. Some of the older ones would only do -R or vice versa.

Have you updated any program lately?

I'm moving this to the right forum.

Thank you for the reply. I am using a Dell INS 531 A64 X2+5000+ (260 GHZ) and you are correct the Roxio was already on the computer when I purchased it. It has been quite a while since I tried to copy a DVD, so I don't know how to tell what updates that I have added. It updates some things automatically. I think something has messed it up because I was able to do this at some point in the past. I do have only one CD/DVD drive. I am able to copy a CD presently because I tried using the same method, but the DVD will not be recognized. I did try to copy the DVD to the hard drive and burn it from there. It did put it on the hard drive, but then said the same thing about putting a blank DVD in the drive, even though I had put the blank in.

Does your Roxio applications include DVDinfoPro? If yes, then run it and check to see if your drive supports the media type that you are using.

If you don't have DVDinforPro then download the Nero Info Tool application and run it. http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero7-tools-utilities.html
