Hello,
I have Creator 2009 Ultimate version which I'm able to create and burn a Blu-Ray disk.  However it only plays
on my PS3 or using the player that came with my Blu-Ray burner (PowerDVD).
I have done a complete reinstall of XP professional and several clean installs but the results are the same.  I haven't
tried to play a regular DVD mainly because they are copy protected which I know CinePlayer   Also CinePlay seams to
only play a select few media files.  I have the download version.
  Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Dana

I am missing what the problem is…

It plays on your PC. – It plays on your PS3…

Where else do you want it to play?

CinePlayer (V5.0) will play any BD you burn with MyDVD and any and all DVD Movies. It will not play any Commercial Blu-ray disc.

CinePlayer won't play BD disks written with MyDVD, get a error "format not supported" I get around it by using
PowerDVD but I find it odd CinePlayer (creator 2009) that were written with creator 2009.

Thanks,
Dana

Yes, it 'should'play any Blueray disc that you created in Creator 2009.  However the Blueray format is NOT support in WinXP.  Did you install a special driver for the Blueray Burner?  Cineplayer should have no problem with Commercial DVDs.

The DB disk is readable, when inserted a explorer window showing the folders on the DB disk.
Even the media files produce the same error if run by them selves that are written on the disk

Thanks,
Dana

Not much we can do for you…

You keep repeating the same ’don’t work’ but have yet to supply any details of what you did, how you did it or your PC specs.

What I've done is a clean install of windows XP applying all service packs as needed.  The drivers needed for the LG blu-ray
writer were then installed.  Before installing anything else I installed Roxio Creator 2009 ultimate download version.  This included
both parts of Creator and the two addon programs included with the package.
The main reason of the complete system install was I couldn't find a fix for the .NET issues that so many people have
reported here.
I would have thought that any codex needed by CinePlayer to play DB's written by MyDvd would have installed with
ether Creator 2009 or CinePlayer.

I have done the clean install a few times and CinePlayer is the only program in the suite that is giving me problems.

   The PC specs are:

Home built system using
Asus M2N-Sli Deluxe
AMD Phomone quad core 3850 running at 2.8Ghz
4 Gig Ram (3.5 seen by windows)
Nvidia 9800 graphics adapter
2.5 TB hard drive

That information was not correct… CinePlayer will play a BD disc that has been burned by MyDVD.
It will not play any Commercial BD disc.

dwellen: Thanks for the info. At this point you have to decide how important this really is… Others seem to be able to do it. But you do have a workaround, maybe it is time to put it to bed? Even if it were a bug, XP is on its’ way out, and it will never be fixed.

If you want to pursue this, you are going to have to contact Roxio.

Update :

C2010 now supports playback of BD (protected/unprotected) with BD playback plugin which was not typically supported in C2009

What is real odd is both Creator 2009 ultimate and Creator 2010 pro can't play DBs written by themselves.  I can
understand not playing protected BD disks but it would have been nice to test run a disk after it has been written
without a third party app or the PS3.

Thanks,
Dana

As mentioned earlier, this is due to licensing reasons. As far as Creator 2010, it can now play BD discs with the help of BD playback plugin.

I had no problem Playing a AVCHD on standard DVD using WinXP and CinePlayer.  Those discs are written in Bluray format.  I had to install a special Bluray driver for WinXp though. Driver not needed in Vista.

Yep, CP in Creator 2009/2010 supports AVCHD, DVD and other formats as a standard option. However, BD playback is not supported in C2009 while it is now supported with BD playback plugin in C2010 smile.gif
