Surround Sound

I have created a blu-ray disk using Creator 2009 Ultimate version and all went well except when the video was
encoded it lost the surround sound.
Is there any settings that would control the sound?
Also I used VideoWave to convert the video files to hi-def (720p) format and selected normalize sound (Blu-Ray audio
for the most part is too low in volume).
Would have it been better to use the Smartsound Sonicfire that came with Creator 2009 Ultimate?
Thanks,
Dana

Why are you converting in VW???
If you don’t have HD source but still want to make a BD, wait until you burn. It will automatically converted at that time.
Likewise what would lead you to believe that extracting the audio and playing with it in yet another software is going to help? When you Normalize you reduce volume levels to about 80% of the loudest.
Maybe a better description of your source file and what you need to do would help.

The source I'm trying to use is unprotected DVDs then converting them to BD disks. This is more for
practice then anything. What I find is that the music in the menu is much louder then the sound from
the movie. Using VW to convert is just a attempt to shorten the encoding time what I should try is
just use MyDVD and see what happens to the sound.

Are these source files HD?

The source isn't HD but wide screen, the quality of the video is good and just using it as a leaning experience. I like
the software so far it was just a pain to install because my system had bad installs of directx and .net.
I'm using rw disks but the price of blanks are down to 4 bucks a disk (printable too) which isn't too bad. None of these disks
I've written have been coasters.

$4 is still a lot, I would like to see 25¢…
Install seems to either be silk or sandpaper! I have had it go both ways
But you are on the right track, experiment and test before you commit to a large project. Keep the questions coming, we are all still learning.

If I use a media (mpeg) VOB file that has multiple sound tracks such as stereo and 6 channel when
imported into mydvd only the first track is used. So I created a mpeg file with just 6 channels and the
written disk plays in 6 channels.

The only way I have been able to maintain surround sound is if I burned a video_ts folder (not created with Creator2009) using Video Copy & Convert's copy function.

Using the copy and convert there is a option to only include the audio tracks you want excluding the others. You can also
remove the other languages and subtitles to make the resulting files a bit smaller.
Maybe Roxio will add the feature to be able to edit videos in VW keeping multiple sound tracks.
