The text box in videowave simply flies off the screen when I click on it. I guess I must be mssing something but what.

DivX has nothing to do with your problem.
No idea what you are doing - how about some details

Maybe you have the text effect set to flying? Click the text object and set the motion path to still (or whatever you want it to be from the selection).
