My computer: HP-e9120y - Windows Vista home premium - 64 bit - 8 gig RAM - ATI 4350 video with latest driver.

I get the above TOPIC title then the following:
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I click OK, the one window closes, and not other response.

I do not have a registry cleaner on this machine.

I do have the trial version of the Norton antivirus software (could it be interfering?) that came with the machine.

Help?

MelS

Nice computer with lots of goodies !  wink.gif   If I search for the "y" version, it takes me to a Portugal site.  Did HP screw up or did you buy it outside the US.  There is a problem if the Windows language does not match the Roxio language.

Did you install the program with that anti-virus active?  If so, not everything got put in the proper place in the registry.

Do you mean "Video Copy and Convert"?  Remember that it is illegal to make a copy of a commercial movie (DVD) even for your own use.  The Roxio software will not allow you to try to make a copy.  I would have thought that you would have gotten a different warning message.

1) This was purchased in the USA at Best Buy.

2) The Antivirus came installed as a trial from HP.

3) I was not trying to copy a commercial movie - That may have been the reason for getting a different message. I was trying to convert a MPG to AVI to reduce the file size. If I use the Edit "advanced", it will convert, but will not using the "Video/Convert" subprogram.

ECHO ?

Converting a mpg2 file to an AVI file would make it larger unless you are converting to DivX or similar?

If there was only one type that would be correct, however if you notice, Roxio does have several options for MPG-X, DIVX, AVI, MOV, etc, thus even though quality will be different, you can reduce file size and retain some quality.

BTW: I am not a new user.  I do have several programing languages behind me as well as a LOT of USER experience.

For the most part I think Roxio has more overall capability than several other programs I have used.

Lessons are free for those willing to learn, but may be costly to those that do not ask.

Dave, read post 3.  That question was answered before.

Mel, isn't that what I said when I mentioned DivX as an example?  I never made the flat statement that all AVI files would be larger than a mpg2 file.

Now I see that you started way back in 2006 but haven't been around much lately.  For conveneience, create a signature with your computer specs and perhaps a line or two about your knowledge of the program.  With only 10 post in 3 years, it is hard to judge your expertise.

It is probably too late but consider editing your e-mail address to prevent those spambots from putting you on a lot of e-mail distribution lists.

Welcome back; I hope we can solve your problem.   wink.gif
