Hi:  I have installed and uninstalled and done 2 clean installs on Creator 2009 and the program still will not open for me, I get an error message "Roxio Creator must close as it has encountered a problem".  If I go into Start, Programs, Roxio and open for instance the "Music
Application" separately it will open and as I proceed with coping a music CD everything goes fine until it writes to my blank CD and then I get an error message that there is something wrong with the CD.  I am installing this on a laptop using Windows XP.  I purchased this program new and it has not worked since I got it.  I would appreciate any help I can get.  Thanks!

I Did Not See That I Received Some Help, Because I Decided To Be Another Useless "Hit And Run" Poster!

I Wasted People's Time And Don't Deserve To Be Helped.

Give us the particulars on that LapTop at least manufacturer and full model number.

When you install, are you installing to a clean (no malware), defragged hard drive with your ANTI-VIRUS OFF  How much free space do you have on your computer?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

PC  Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Velocity Micro ProMagix ©HD 60; evga x58 motherboard, Intel i7 @2.93, 12G RAM, EVGA Nvidia 560TI superclocked video card, SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme audio card, Buffalo external blu-ray burner; Creator 2012. PhotoShow 6, VHS to DVD 3Plus.

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

Apple =OSX 10.5
MacBook Pro; 15.4-inch widescreen display, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB memory, 200GB hard drive, 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW), NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 memory.  ILife 08, Toast 10, Final Cut Express 4 and Photoshop 4.

I am having this exact problem - after installing, the individual programs seem to run ok but Roxio Central reports the error seen above. Clicking a link in the error dialog reveals this:
"Error Signature:

EventType : clr20r3     P1 : roxiocentralfx.exe     P2 : 4.12.0.0
P3 : 48a05348     P4 : roxiocentralfx     P5 : 0.0.0.0     P6 : 48a05348
P7 : 17e     P8 : 12     P9 : system.dllnotfoundexception "

I reported this to Support, and they had me run RCPROD.msi from the DVD /RoxioCentral_4x folder. Doing this achieved nothing.

I have now followed the Clean Install procedure to the letter, uninstalling, deleting folders, clearing the registry, and have ended up with exactly the same problem.

To date I have spent in excess of 8 hours trying to install this suite, and still have little to show for it.

My system is a Del Inspiron 8500 laptop, with XP Home SP3 and all current updates.

I googled the problem (system dll not found, as in my post above) and found a suggestion in some other forum. The suggestion was to download/install RC2009 SP2.

I checked Roxio downloads and found SP4. After installing this update - the problem is cured! Roxio Central now opens correctly.

So, the final solution seems to be to download and install the latest Service Pack for RC2009. The SP installs with the program NOT running.

I too have now spent 8 hrs on this program and it still would not open.  I followed Peter's advice and it now works (so far).

I had the exact same issue after I changed my hard drive and tried to reinstall 2009.  I took peter's advice and IT WORKED instantly! Thank you Peter and Roxio for the forums!
