I have an old Sony Hi8 camcorder.  There was a feature on the camcorder to videotape in widescreen 16X9.  When I did,  the picture was recorded and presented in full frame but compressed looking.  (like everyone looks kinda skinny in it)  When viewing this on a widescreen TV all I have to do is put the 'stretch' feature on and it properly expands the picture to its widescreen state.

Currently,  I am trying to make video files using Roxio to upload to YouTube.  My problem is that when I capture the special 16X9 shot video from the camera its is captured in full frame compressed style.  I need to somehow stretch this video to its widescreen format but cannot figure out how to do it.  I cannot do this with the camera.  I have to export the video and then manipulate it later.  Any ideas how I can stretch this compressed 16X9 video using Roxio to look correct.

Hopefully I explained that okay.  What a headache!

I have not done enough in Widescreen to give you a definitive answer (in other words, [inot a clue[/I] huh.gif )

I am curious as to HOW you are capturing?

It is possible that your camcorder is not actually making a true Widescreen…

Double check in VideoWave that you are set to 16:9 Project before you add the capture!

Then there are 2 options under Production Settings -  ‘Fill Screen’ & ‘Entire Source’. Try both, but you have to set them before you Add the clip.

Some of the other regulars here have more expertise in this and should chime in as the day wares on.
