Hi, I've just started burning DVD's with Creator 10 and the burning speeds I've been getting are terrible.  I've never been able to burn anything faster than 1X!  On my older PC with Roxio 7.5 with the same DVD media, I get average speeds of over 12x.  I'm copying DVD's and I'm not sure what to check to troubleshoot this, I've never had a problem like this before.  Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I took a look and everything is using DMA.  The system specs are as follows:

Intel core 2 duo/ 3 ghz
4 gigs ram
Windows XP Pro, SP3
nivdia 260 graphics
LG Dvdram GH22LP20 burner

I just tried updating the burner's firmware, there was a new 1.04 version and it did help, now the burn rate tops out at 4X.  A nice improvement, but it's still way below what my older PC can do.

What also happens is that the actual write speed of a DVD is set by the dis itself. If the header track says it's 4x, there's nothing you can do to make it burn any faster because the software takes the info from the drive (which rreads the track) and will automatically hold max speed down to whetever ie disc says.

In saying that, there have been known cases where the firmware didn't recognise the disc and defaulted to 1x but this is down to the drive firmware itself
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
