Greetings all- followed the instructions for the installation of SP4- when I went to run the update I got this message 'Patch Engine Error (11)'- 'Invalid start mode_missing IRAFN command line switch' . Any ideas on the fix for this? I may just go ahead and uninstall then reinstall the software. Or would just an upgrade to Creator 2010 be advisable?

Interesting. Never seen this one.. Can you provide some system specs including OS and flavor of Creator 2009. While Creator 2010 is much cleaner code, it is not absolutely necessary to upgrade if the owned product does what you intend to do.

Currently running Creator 2009 on a Dell Dimension E510 -OS is Windows XP with all current updates- up until now Creator 2009 was working fine. I will probably just try and do an unindtall reinstall to see if that fixes things- thanks for the info.

Just a quick update- did an uninstall/reinstall of Creator 2009 - same problem still persists.

Which problem? You said that the error started after you installed SP4. Are you now saying that after you removed SP4 and Creator 2009 using the clean install process and then reinstalling Creator 2009, you still have that error?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

My mistake-should have been a bit clearer.SP4 update was downloaded- not installed. Got the error message when I went to install the update.

It's been awhile since I installed SP4 on my XP system but I seem to remember I had problems and ended up installing it in safe mode successfully. I don't recall seeing the error message you posted though. It's worth a try at least.

I think my problem started as a result of Microsoft Automatic Update. Roxio Creator 2009 had been running fine and I can only assume that the error message I received when last trying to run Creator 2009 was a result of a MS security update. When I clicked on the link that pointed me to Roxio update page, I downloaded SP4 update program. During the installation the following error occured about midpoint:
Cannot delete target file:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\11.0\SharedCOM\RoxMediaDB11.exe
The update program then rolled back.
I will attempt to install it in SAFE MODE.

I did install it in SAFE MODE. Creator 2009 is now running as before. Thanks to all for your suggestions.
