Example: Roxio Home "Burn Datadisk" works in Roxio Home pane, but "Burn Datadisk - advanced" does not open the application window. I can observe the the process starts, but it terminates after less than a second without error message or opening a window.  The pattern seems to be that Roxio home functions that opens e seperate application window fails. Install was without any errrors.  Virus program not installed yet.... Any ideas?

Burn Data Disc – Advanced opens Creator Classic.

In fact all buttons on the Home interface that have the little arrow beside them, open separate stand alone Apps. Those apps are also accessible through the normal Windows Start Menu route.

In any case it should start right up from the Home app and if it does not it indicates a faulty install…

I would go to the Control Panel – Add/Remove Programs:

And try the Repair option.

Yes… I don’t think one has been created specifically for 2010 but the one for 2009 will serve well enough - Vista

Hope you don't mind but I am having the same trouble with XP SP3.

1.   Uninstalled 2009 Ultimate, then really uninstalled it with Revo.
2.   Ran, Registry First Aid, MyDefrag.
3.   Cold boot (had to feed the deer).
4.   Installed 2010 Pro, Disk 2 & Content, in that order.
5.   Install successful, no displayed error messages, checked install & System files for errors, NONE, rebooted.
6.   Double clicked on desktop icon, Main Menu screen displayed with nothing else, no links/shortcuts (cute little icons) within the application.
Problem:
None of the links (cute little icons & drop down lists) work, they are not visable. I tested about every one on the menu (EX: File . . ., Help . . .), some worked, some did not, that's even more frustrating to me that it either works or not.
7.   Bummer.
8.   Cold boot.
9.   Tried 6 above again, same results (& yes, me too, I did not know what I was expecting different, but I was hoping).
10. Tried Start menu Roxio appls:  Creator Classic, MyDVD . . . , nothing started.
11. Double dummer.
12. Ran Add Remove Programs/Repair/reboot/no change.
13. In the C drive (system) started several applications by starting the exe files (PhotoSuite12.exe within in each of Roxis's application sub directories, again, Creator Classic, MyDVD, etc. and they started, only tried 3 and they started.
14. Humm....... why not.
15. Ran Registry First Aid & reviewed only Safe Transactions to Fix, and the only references to Roxio (& there were several) for the lack of better clasification, minor at best & window dressing changes.
13. Ran MyDefrag in Slow mode, cold boot, tried all of the above again, no changes.

Phase 2:

1.  Uninstalled 2010, then really uninstalled it with Revo, came up with an additional 24,900 plus items to contine a clean ( ? ) uninstall (have Clipmate screen shots, I didn't beleive it either).
2.  Ran Registry First Aid, Ran MyDefrag, cold boot, read the web site for documentation, led me to here.
3.  Ran items listed above: 3 through 13 inclusive, AGAIN !
4.  Reinstalled: Ultimate & Nero 9, with 2 other "free" ( I know, but they are slick for what they do) and I will wait for a response, hopefully. Better yet a solution.
5.  Left the 2nd clean install of 2010 Pro.

FYI:

Duriing testing:

1.  All (application, EX:) anti-virus, malware, utilities, Word, and on and on (of any type) were disabled during this test process, I used Armor.
2.  PC only had running Clipmate to document things, MemTurbo.
3.  All software are the latest versions by the seller, all hardware has been certified for XP, Vista & Window 7 (R something, whatever those 3 letters are ?).
4.  This test was ran on XP SP3, all updated system drivers (Driver Detective).

If I have time, I will run the same test on Vista Home Premium, looks like someone else is working on Windows 7.

By the way:

If all this is just between anyone whe reads the site with a same problem, when does Roxio get involved and who make that call??

I hope this helps.

Have a great day & be safe

My experience with customer service has been terrible.  Tech support has no idea how to fix this problem!!!!

I did a clean reinstall.  Twice with their full instructions.

The second time it completely messed up my system.  Running Vista Home Premium.  Would not work with McAfee so I changed to Avast to see if that worked.  Whole system crashed no matter what I was running.  Just a constant read activity to my hard drive.  Couldn't print anything at all.  A useless machine until I tried to uninstall.  Crashed twice before finally uninstalling.  While uninstalling the last successful time, Avast told me I had two viruses, both in Roxio.  No problems with the system after ridding myself of this product.

All customer service would do is tell me I have 90 days instead of 30 days to return the product since they could not help me to install it.

It seems this is a pervasive problem! I wonder why only a few of us are having this?  I wonder if there is a problem with a batch of disks that contain some viral code or something, given my experience not being able to use with one antivirus program and the other detecting two Roxio viruses upon uninstalling?

Any way to check this out, or otherwise get Roxio to fix this terrible problem?

thx

Corrupted registry?  Maybe it's time to format the hard drive and reinstall the OS.
