Well in the middle of transposing my video to dvd using Nero7 or Nero9, I noticed it had "froze" unsure.gif and so I aborted the job and it would not stop. I finally got it to stop using the windows task manager. I then cleaned out my hard drive, checked for errors (none) and defragged the drive, then re-booted computer.

Now it is working with no glitches and has finished burning the dvd.

The dvd came out perfect, I could not ask for anything more, it looks great! biggrin.gif

I do not know why it stopped the way it did, but all is well now, I just have to remember to keep the HD cleaned and defragged. rolleyes.gif

What does this have to do with VHS2DVD? blink.gif

Defragging should be a regular (almost daily) task rolleyes.gif

Well looks like my troubles are still hanging around sad.gif .

Does anybody know what format vhs2dvd uses to capture video? ISO or DivX or Windows Movie File?

I am tired of fooling around with Nero, apparently whatever I do does not cure my problem of locking up during transcoding.

I want to use something else, I really don't care for the "MyDVD" option, very vague on how to use it.

I have heard of IMGBurn and AVI2DVD to use, any other suggestions?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have the option of using avi or mpeg2 if capturing to your hard drive. Of course if going direct to DVD it will be mpeg2.

iso is not a video format but simple an image file of what is on a disc.

Exactly what are you trying to do? If you want to create a standard DVD that you can play on a DVD player ther is almost no way around it: you have to use myDVD unsure.gif

I am converting my football games to dvd. I have done 8 games thru Nero7, with some problems, but successful burns afterwards. I had no problems with capturing video, only burning after capture. This is what was driving me nuts trying to figure out what was causing this problem

Here is my latest adventure. I wiped out my computer and started from scratch! Once I got XP SP2 back up and running I fulfilled all requirements for vhs2dvd. I then re-loaded my Nero6 software, then upgraded it to Nero7. I did everything under SP2 then upgraded to SP3. ALL is good.

I also have in my computer 2 separate RAIDO systems 1 using Intel RAID, 1 using Promise FasTrax. The Intel RAID is SATA 380GB while the Promise is only PATA 60GB. I was capturing onto the smaller 60GB PATA drive, not my main SATA drive. I did not have Nero7's Showtime set as my default player for all video files also. In Nero7, while transcoding, the priority was set to "normal", I now set this to "high".

I did try using the "MyDVD" and did successfully make a very good dvd, looks just as good as the Nero7 dvd's. I'll have to play with it some more.

I shut my computer down after I captured the game, then re-started, went to start Nero7, made my dvd thru NERO7 with no glitches or lockups!!! Now it works the way it should!!! I do not know what I did but I no longer have the bugaboo of locking up or hanging during transcoding! I think setting the Nero7 Showtime to be the default player for all the video files may have had something to do with this, because now everything is doing what it's supposed to do!!! biggrin.gif I also now do my capturing onto my main SATA drive.

I think what may also contributed to my problems was trying to use the separate PATA drive just for video capture, not using my main drive. Now everything in done on my main drive. I'll use the other drive for other things.

It looks like you don't need anymore help, in the Roxio forums, with your Nero software. blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif
