Hey all....I consider myself pretty PC literate. I have a brand new 2009 PC that I bought at Best Buy this week. I purcahsed the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD yesterday and last night got it all hooked up. I wanted to record some old VHS tapes into my PC then burn it. It wont get passed the 1st page. When I try to get it started it closes out EVERY time I try and openit and go through the process it does the same thing. I have Windows Vista. I can't understand why it won't work. On another note...I am a radio DJ. I have years of my radio shows recorded onto HI-FI VHS. It recorded the audio in stereo for my 5 hour shift each week. I want to life the audio from that and make MP3s of it. When I use my VHS player to play the audio I open up the LP/cassesste mode and it does allow me to record my audio that way, bit as far as recording old VHS tapes with video and audio (in VHS mode) it closes out. Any ideas?????

Couple of questions Dave--Can you play the VHS tapes to a TV using a VCR player ?? If you can you might try this as a suggestion--I have captured many of my old VHS tapes using my VCR and cabling from the VCR "OUT ports (red, white audio and yellow video) to the "in" ports on my TV. Then I have cabled the "out" ports on the TV to the VHStoDVD USB capture device (placed in a USB2.0 port on the computer--back port preferably).

I have also captured some old 8mm tapes directly from the old camcorder to the VHStoDVD capture device and that worked fine also. And I have also captured just the audio portion of some of my VHS tapes as well.

Another question--When you check your Device Manager under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" what drivers do you see if any ?? (Assume that you have the VHStoDVD USB capture device installed in a USB port on the computer. If you installed the program correctly, you should see the drivers for the device.

Frank...

Did you look through cdanteek’s pinned post at the top?

When properly installed it will do what you want.
