Go with Creator 2009 instead of the cut down V2D
You may be able to return the V2D package and then order the Capture device alone. You will be ahead $10

I guess I missed the memo too and did the same thing. So how do I restore Creator 2009 now that I wiped it out with Easy VHS to DVD? Just reinstall? What did you do?

Try it and let us know…
I would lean toward the Clean Install to make sure, but you never know…

Thanks Jim, I did a plain old reinstall and, after a couple of lockups, restarts and cold starts, things seem to be working OK. Just did a test capture of an analog video/audio stream from a DVD player (my VCR is busted) and it worked OK. In the event that I have further trouble, I'll do a Clean Install (don't have time to do it for a few weeks). I also still have Easy Media Creator 9 onboard in addition to Creator 2009. It also recognizes the USB Video device and closed without a problem. When I do get some time to tweek, maybe I'll do the Clean Install and dump EMC9 in the process.
BTW, when I did the reinstallation of C2009, the first thing that it did was to remove Easy VHS to DVD. Also, I looked back at the instruction book (Getting Started Guide) that came with my EVHS CD and there was no mention of not installing EVHS if you already have C2009, nor was there any Readme or other Help advice on the CD. In addition the Roxio link to the driver now says basically "Sorry we don't do that anymore, but we'll give you 10% off on your next purchase". What????
I'm running on a Dell Dimension 8400 with a full compliment of RAM and uptodate XP.
Thanks for the help.

Well Dave, you would be wrong about the warning… remember the card that dropped out of the box when you opened it? Looks like this:

Glad to hear you got it working again!
I would have uninstalled both V2D as well as 2009 before trying to install something. Don’t think for one moment that installers are intelligent!
You will find that after the Drivers for the device are installed it work with almost any program that can do USB capture. It is sold as a stand alone device too.

Thanks again for setting me straight. I do recall the image of the hardware on something but it must have been swallowed up by the Motherofallmessyworkstations. (I tend to get a little overanxious when there are new system goodies.)

I have only seen that after re-visiting this post now and seen the pic of the card, definately nothing like that in the box, nothing fell out of the box either, I still have it (sad that way).
I noticed the roxio usb driver had been installed when I removed the easy... etc from the computer and reinstalled ...2009, works great too. Why do Roxio Support never reply to any questions, I filed a request over a week ago and still no reply, anyway sorted now thanks to you good people on here.

I cannot really speak for the OC inspections that Roxio’s packaging contractors use… I am versed in setting up Poka Yoke processing but no one invited me in
I will say, if I bought V2D and didn’t read the warning, it would no have dawned on me to hesitate for one moment before shoving the disc in!
What link-post are you referring to??? I'll fix it if I can find it

Thanks Brendon but I am curious… What possible connection is there from Chalkino’s post and that one???

In Post #9, Chalkino referred to 'the link in the other thread' being broken.
The broken link was in the topic that Ogdens referred to.
