I just installed Roxio on a new install of Vista 64 and cannot get it to run because the registration process does not complete. It says "contacting our servers" and another window comes up and then there is nothing in the window that I can flll out or complete to do the registration. The program will not open and I cannot use the program at all. Except for a small amount of text, the box is empty and there are none of the usual windows buttons like a close button, etc. This is the 2nd time I installed the program on this computer and the first time I did not have this problem. Is it possible the registration server is down and that is why I can't register? Is there any way to use the program without registering?

Thank you.

I think I inadvertently found the reason I was having a problem and perhaps it would help someone else. I followed the hint by others to disconnect from the internet, first of all. That brought up a registration screen that had blanks, but everthing did not fit in the box. I then remembered that I had set the dpi on my computer to a slightly larger dpi so that I could see the type better. I was given the message that I should try to register later when I was connected to the internet. I reconnected to the internet and tried immediately to register and again the box was blank. I then resized the dpi back to the default and tried again. This time the software opened first and when I clicked to register, the box came up normally with blanks for my name, email, etc. and everything fit as it should. I was then able to register. So...if you've changed your dpi, try to set it back and see if that will allow you to register without getting a blank box.

Someone with VISTA 64 will have to look at your issue. I always run 120 dpi but I use VISTA 32 and didn't run into the issue that you had. I don't think it's a dpi issue.

Try temporarily turning off your firewall and anitvirus. You'll probably have to go thruogh the clean install procedure.

I don't know if it was the dpi or not, but if you read to the end, my problem went away and I didn't have to reinstall or clean istall. Once I could get the registration box out of the way, the program ran fine. I didn't have to turn off the antivirus, either. It seemed to be a problem with the formatting of the box and the information in it, so I thought maybe a graphics problem because of the screen fonts being larger. If that does work for someone, it is a whole lot easier than a reinstall and it worked for me. By the way, do you have to register the software at some point to run it? When I opened it while not connected to the internet, it just said to register the next time I was connected and then opened the program. If I had decided not to register later, would it stop working at some point, or is it optional to register?

Dave, go to the top of this thread and on the right, go to options and then select "standard". Perhaps that will help you follow the thread easier and not miss some posts. I'm sure that is why you have posted answers to questions that have already been answered or have not responded to posts addressed to you.

To both: This program likes and will run best at 96dpi. If you run anything else, some of the display screens will be missing text, buttons, etc. I'm not sure how Dave is getting away with 120dpi and is seeing everything.

Steve,

Thanks for the tip back to standard. Some how it keeps getting changed as are the multiple responses (one per response in a thread) that I have been receiving. 120 dpi works with VISTA 32 bit on both my laptop and desktop. With W7, the large font also works.
