I had been using VHS to DVD for awhile and decided to upgrade to upgrade to the Creator 2009. I did not know that there was a compatibility problem between VHS to DVD with Creator 2009 until I saw the V2D icon disappear during the installation process. Now the video capture USB will not work.If you go to Roxio Video Capture USB-Overview is states" Roxio Video Capture Device is only compatible with Creator 2010 and Creator 2010 Pro". Question is do I have get a different Video Capture USB in order to have it work ?

I had been using VHS to DVD for awhile and decided to upgrade to upgrade to the Creator 9. Please use the correct names when referring to program - there is no program called "Creator 9". You are propably referring to Roxio Creator 2009. (There is an older suite called Easy Media Creator 9).
The Roxio USB Capture device will work with Creator 2009, VHS2DVD and Creator 2010. I would think that the statement "" Roxio Video Capture Device is only compatible with Creator 2010 and Creator 2010 Pro" is in error.
It is correct though that VHS2DVD and Creator 2009 cannot co-exist on the same computer. I believe that there is no such problem between VHS2DVD and Creator 2010.

But there was a warning that came with your V2D package
You have to do a Clean Install to clean up the mess that is in there:
Vista
XP
Then you want to download the driver for the Roxio Capture USB device – Driver
Plug in the device, Cancel anything Windows wants to help with!!!! Run the download for the driver.
Of course apply the SP4 update for Creator 2009 if it didn’t automatically install yet.
Put the V2D disc away in a safe place.

Thank you for the help. I'm using XP and yesterday I did a clean install using the directions posted; then, I tried to install Creator 2009 and it would not Recognize the Roxio Video Capture USB when I plugged it in. I when back to the Roxio Community and saw your link to download a driver. After downloading the driver a couple of minutes ago I proceed to plug in the device after opening the download file and it still does not recognize the device. Suggestions Please I have about had it the this error. Thank you for any assistance . I do not want to get a refund and go back to V2D program if I can get this to work.

It sounds like you ran the driver download file then plugged in the USB device after that was done.
You should be plugging in the USB device, cancelling the XP "found new hardware" wizard, then run the driver file you downloaded (so the device is plugged in first before installing the driver).

And do not have the Creator 2009 program running.
I laid the step out in the specific order that had to take place. No fair doing a mix & match!
