Roxio 2009 would not see 5.1 Audio so I had to edit using third party software and render AVCHD 5.1 back to mpeg2 stereo.
Before wasting my money on Roxio 2010 and find it will only cope with stereo audio I asked the question to the tech team only to be told to check the play and recording formats or the Forum. ALL I wanted was a YES or NO answer. mad.gif

So, does any one here know if Roxio 2010 can edit (handel) AVCHD or M2TS files with 5.1 surround sound ?

When you can’t get a Yes or No it is usually because – you didn’t ask the right question – you weren’t understood – they don’t know and won’t admit it – they don’t want to give you a negative answer laugh.gif

Your question is clear to me – No! It will not Output Surround Sound.

It can import files that have it but it will be changed to AC3 stereo for output.

Thank's for the reply Digital Guru I had an idea that nothing has changed on the Audio side of things. It is a shame Roxio have not updated the New version to handle 5.1 I have always used Roxio as my preference for Video Editing but now for another £30 extra I will now down load the Adobe premier for my Video editing.

I don't know what shop you're buying it from but Adobe Premiere will cost you a LOT more than another £30

Try £725.98 as opposed to £69.99

Perhaps he meant Premiere Elements?, but I didn't know it could edit 5.1 sound.

I own Premiere Elements 4 and to upgrade to 7 will cost £90.85 and yet Adobe are doing the full version for £113.85 reduced to £85.39; usually a sign that a newer version is due.

However, since the enquiry that Roxio 2010 will handle 5.1 and knowing that Adobe elements 4 does I found this for a review on elements 7.
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/software/22...iere-elements-7

I will continue with Roxio 2009 as I do have some Mpeg files to edit plus it has some very good audio features I use quite a bit.

So I think for now I will put up with what I have for the moment and use the Editing Software that came with my Panasonic TM300 although its good and easy to use but very limted on the editing side of things.

Actually 5.1 is NOT native if you read down that review - it will import, but you can't do anything with it

Although the stereo audio mixing tools are very good, and you can import footage which already has 5.1 sound (such as from the top-end Panasonic HD camcorders), the inability to mix your own positional audio leaves a major box unchecked. The competition has had this one covered for some time.

I got this from the Adobe Support Forum:
QUOTE
Sorry, but, if you import 5.1 channel sound into Premiere Elements 7, the export is Dolby Digital 2 ch (Stereo). That is true for all the export choices.
5.1 surround sound editing and export is only supported in Premiere PRO.
