Two subjects, actually:
1) When I open Roxio Creatopr 2009, the Update Manager opens immediately and starts recycling over and over. First6 Update manager popup window message is"The installed product does not match the installation source(s). Until a matching source is provided or the installed product and source are synchrnized, this action cannot be performed."
If you click "cancel," you grert another Update Manager oppup window with the error message "Error 1731. The source installation package for the product Update manager is out of sunc with the client package. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'isus.msi.'"
The program it is looking at is my LEGAL copy of CorelDraw X3. If I search for the isus.msi file an double click it, I get a message that basically says you can't use this, you have to uninstall Corel then reinstall it (I did).
Have tried:
1. googling
2.l RegCure
3. Corel instructions to rename a couple of folders (didn't work)
4. reinstalling Corel
5. Using the hot fix to remove the InstallShield (didn't work)
6. googles on Creator 2009, whhich found many, many, many frustrated users
7. Corel Website: no help
2. OTHER SUBJECT: Very disappointed with Roxio Customer support. I don't swear, don't yell at support people, don't get mad, am very patient. However, I cannot believe the amount of time and frustration I have spent trying to just email support at Roxio. Here's a little bit of an idea:
- went to support
- put in email and login (know it's correct)
- got invalid email
- did this a couple of times
- looked for another way to contact support, nothing obvious (I wonder why . . . yes, sarcasm is rearing it's ugly head here, not proud of it . . . )
- go back to contact us and select "forgot password?"
- get the generate new password link, and enter my new password
- get logged in, hallelujah
- go to contact support page again WHILE I'M LOGGED IN
- get another email and password login page
- enter the password . . . AND you guessed it, 'INVALID LOGIN
There is no help for this issue in the forums that I could find quickly
Can't spend any more time on this now, but again, I am registering my frustration and profound disappointment in Roxio's support of its customers. It's very evident out there on other forums that there is a lack of consideration for their clients.

1. Apparently, ISUM is also common to Corel and it not just limited to being used by Roxio to provide necessary updates for the products. Hence, in this case it appears to be more relevant to Corel which will explain why it is looking for your installed copy of CorelDraw X3
2. I ran into similar issue sometimes ago. Sounds silly but make sure you are using lowercase for email and password when trying to log in as it is case sensitive. Perhaps, p/w is not your issue.
While I understand your disapppointment, you would have to agree, nobody is perfect and am sure Roxio can improve where necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Re Item 1, yes, I have spent time on Corel's website, too long to go into all the instructions. Bottom line, I want to get rid of InstallShield/Update Manager and every attempt I have found to do so does not work. Currently, every time I open Creator 2009, I run into the same thing. I have spent a very significant amount of time (hours) trying to fix this. In addition, I have tried about 5 times to import some pngs by created a slideshow within MyDVD and cannot proceed because of this issue. So, now I have to go through Flash.
Regarding Item 2, would you mind clarifying "using lowercase for email and pasword"? Are you talking about my logging into Roxio? If so, that is not the issue. Have tried that, but thanks for your suggestion.
Regarding the disappointment: I have seen other forums regarding Roxio Creator 2009, where users have not received a response from Roxio Support on this issue. They, too, have expressed frustration. It took so long for me to even be able to find a way to communicate to Roxio -- my third attempt, I might add -- that I finally had to express my frustration as well . . . not just to vent and spew, but to let Roxio know there are clients out here who are not being helped. And yet, as of this date, I have heard not a peep from Roxio Support. Not an email, not a reply to this post, nothing. Not even a "we understand your frustration," nothing. That perplexes me.

Issue is finally resolved due to user, whose name I cannot find to thank. I had printed out his post, but there is no address on it, can't find it, so am retyping below. Also, I did have to uninstall Corel X3, but that's okay for not.
1. first, update Service Pack to SP3 (if not already)
2. Get a copy of milcore.dll by Googling. Find a free .dll website. if you are on a Vista machine, it is in the sysstem32 folder under Windows. you are not as lucky if you use XP. Copy it to a safe play in case you need it again.
3. Get instrutions for a clean install from http://support.roxio.com.
4. Go to www.microsoft.com, and locate/download Direct X Version 9C Runtime (approx 80 mb) and .NET 3.5 SP1, install both.
BEFORE STEP 5
Copy your installation disk to your hard drive (make sure hidden files are shown). When you perform the installation, install from the copied files, not from the disk.
5. run the installer for Creator 2009 (from your hard drive).
6. When it finishes, it will ask you to restart; select NO for now.
7. Locate your copy of milcore.dll, and copy it to your c:\windows\system32 folder.
8. restart your computer and Creator 2009 will work.
Thank you, whoever you are!
One other thing: I can't find the shortcut that allows me to open the large interface for Creator 2009, the one that has MyDVD, SyncIt, etc. on it, but that's no big deal for now.
Hope this helps someone.

See the shortcut called “Roxio Creator 2009 Ultimate”???

Copy it anywhere you want.
XP SP3 is not required for Creator 2009.
