I've been working on a project with all my old home movies and have saved them as an ISO file. I have burned an ISO file to a single layer disc with no problem, but I can't burn anything to a dual layer disc.

When you load a DL disc into the drive, it reads it and then ejects it, saying in needs a blank disc, when the disc is blank.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your time and help resolving this matter.

Best regards,
Mike

Maybe your drive doesn’t do DL discs?

Some early ones only do ‘plus’ while others only do ‘dash’ Media.

The ISO you made was for regular disc. You may have make another ISO for the DL type you are using.

What program are you using to try to burn the disc?  If it is Video Copy and Convert, in the dropdown box, don't change it to DL.  Leave it at the 4.7GB disc, and see if it burns.  It won't compress the production, even though it says it is.

This has been a software glitch, since Roxio dropped the Disc Copier program, stripped it down, and called it Video Copy and Convert.  It is hit and miss, when you try to change the setting to DL.

Hi Jim,

Nope, checked the drive and it does burn dual layer discs. It's a brand new drive in a brand new computer ( not that it has to do with anything ). I've used NERO BuringROM before and it's flawless at buring ISO files. Even dual layer.  just thought it was something that ROXIO had left out or didn't support.

The ISO I made was for a dual layer disc ( 8.5Gb )

I'm using ROXIO Creator Premiere to burn the ISO image made with DVD Shrink. I've never had a problem before, but I used NERO BurningROM before. This is my first experience using ROXIO ( which came with the computer ). I can burn a "regular"  ( 4.3Gb  ) ISO file with no problem using ROXIO.  But when I try burning a DL ( 8..5Gb ) disc, it ejects the disc from the drive shortly after it read it, saying I need to put a blank disc in the drive, when the disc IS blank.

My other comuter is running the same program(s) except I use NERO for burning the ISO files, and have never had a problem. Dual or single layer discs.

Like I told Jim, it's a brand new computer with 2 new drives, 1 Bluray and 1 DVD DL drive. I checked the drivers and all is well there.

Still searching for a solution.......

It seems you don't even have Roxio Creator 2009 in which forum you posted rolleyes.gif Since the version you have came with the computer its most likely an OEM version which means it has many features missing or disabled. Burning to an DL DVD may be one of the missing features.

If it's version 10.2 it is an OEM version.

Of course it ought to work, but in my experience OEM versions are ALL 'limited ability' versions that are designed to hold you until you buy real full version software.

Whoever bundled the software, computer or burner manufacturer, has taken responsibility from Roxio for support of the software in return for a cheaper price. You should contact the company which supplied you the software.

Roxio Creator Premier/copy/burn image, which is part of Roxio Creator Blu-ray 10.2

I'm going to contact Roxio and see what they have to say.

Thanks for the help.......   rolleyes.gif

Thanks Brendon....... I'll check with Roxio and see what they have to say. Worse comes to worse, I guess I'll have to buy a "full" version in order to get all the features.

1. What is the make/model of the DVD Burner?
2. What brand of DL media are you using? Have you tested with a different brand?

Your OEM version most likely does not burn DL disc, check with the where you got the program and that would not be Roxio rolleyes.gif
