Is there a way to change the thumbnail image of the video file (.avi or .mpeg, etc.) in Windows Explorer - Vista once I have completed the Capture Video option?  Note: I am talking about the thumbnail in Windows Explorer itself, not in MyDVD, VideoWave Editor, or any other location, program, or option internal to any of the programs contained within Easy VHS to DVD itself.
Thank you for any and all help that you may be able to provide and the timely manner in which your reply arrives.

Hi Gregory,

I think Windows makes its thumbnails from the first frame in a video file, so to have it make a different thumbnail you would need to change the first frame.

Hi Gregory,

I think Windows makes its thumbnails from the first frame in a video file, so to have it make a different thumbnail you would need to change the first frame.

So I opened up VideoWave and added a picture just before the actual video start.  Then I did "Export As" MPEG-2 for DVD, best quality and hit "Create Video File".  Then it did its thing.  Once completed, I located the Save location and the mpeg file was there.  I double-clicked and it launched the video, showing the picture I added for the first few seconds of the video and then played the rest as it was before.  The only problem is that the thumbnail's picture (referring to Windows Explorer, of course) is the same as the original mpeg instead of the first frame of the new mpeg.
Again, thank you for your assistance in this matter and your timely reply.

Did you first delete the old "thumbs.db" thumbnail file so that Windows had to make a new thumbnail from your altered file?

If you've done that and the new Windows thumbnail is the same as the old one, then I'm afraid I'm quite puzzled and we're going to need someone with more knowledge of thumbnails.

It is a Windows thing. But FOLDER related…

Give the file a different name and it shows the new one. Change it back and reverts to the original thumbnail!

Move it to a different folder – rename it to the original name and you get a new thumbnail…

Now move it back into the original folder and it sticks!

Yes, that's why you have to delete the thumbs.db file.

No it makes no difference if Thumbbs.db is deleted or not...

The file must be renamed when in another folder, then brought back to the original folder.
