You didn’t supply one drop of info so I can only tell you what worked for me last time.
A proxy file is created in VW when you bring in HD video. I used the Proxy file (mpg) instead of the mp4 and it worked.
Haven’t done one since then… Others find burning to ISO seems to help.

Sorry for the missing info, I tought the error would be enough, but i agree the error text seems a bit generic.
I use MyDVD exclusively (I guess it calls VW). I have about 50 High resolution photos and 5 movies in .MOV format (1080P).
Burning a standard HQ DVD works well. But when i convert the project to AVCHD, after 1 hr of encoding, it dies with the "Error while Writing Format" error.
I am not familiar with the Proxy files for .MOV in my case

There is no such thing as a “HQ DVD”. All DVD Movies are SD.
Roxio allows you to burn an AVCHD project onto a DVD that most BD Players will play. (some DVD Players will also play it, but very, very few)
There are a few ways to get to the end in Video work. The way you are doing it is OK for small simple projects. I prefer the VW for creation and MyDVD only for Burning.
There are advantages and limitations to either method.
Easy test, just try what I said in VW then add that Proxy file to MyDVD and burn to an ISO file.
It will either work or it will not…

I said HQ (High Quality as opposed to, fit to disk, long play, etc...) not HD.
I use my PS3 to read the AVCHD DVDs, it works fine but there are a lot of artifacts and severe screendoor effects (With Creator 2009). I was hoping that the Creator 2010 Pro encoder would have been fixed, but so far i am unable to burn a AVCHD project.
I will try the test you described tomorrow morning. Not sure what is that proxy file you are talking about, but i will try to find it myself first.
Thx for your help

So here it is again:
Using MyDVD (Roxio 2010 Pro downloaded) I have converted a DVD project to AVCHD, and i tried to burn it to a .iso, i get this error
Project_BuildToDevice() AuthorScript call failed. Error while Writing Format
I have about 50 High resolution photos and 5 movies in .MOV format (1080P).

Please don't tell me to buy Nero 9 and close this thread

I gave you a test procedure to try 2 days ago and you still have not done it.
You have to try something other than repeating yourself. What you are putting in the project is irrelevant. TIME is of some interest since it rarely happens in very small projects.
But honestly this has been a hit or miss thing since EMC 9 so I don’t expect anything will work 100% of the time.

Did not have time this morning, will do it as soon as i get a minute (I'm now at work, obviously stealing time), in the meantime, i guess we can keep this thread open even if it draws cockroaches.

Jim,
I tried your suggestion, and i was able to create an .iso when dropping a .mp4 (Prepared with VM) and creating a AVCHD .iso file.
No more write format error crapola!
Now, i just need to figure out why the encoding process (in MyDVD) is not CUDA accelerated as shown by Dana on another thread.
Thanks again Jim, for your valuable help

I don't think there is anything to figure out???
If the file is compliant, it isn’t rendered thus CUDA or Stream have no need to be invoked… This isn’t rocket science, if you have it and it is needed, it is used. Otherwise, not.
As far as the Authorscript() error you may want to push that trick and burn to disc (RW).
I am not going to claim this is the 100% cure! The only project I did had 7 movie clips and 15 stills. 3 of my computers threw the error and I could not burn an AVCHD disc!
Then I used the proxy file for movies as one Title and the other Title, I just used the VW dmsm Project file for the slides… So that is 1 time, 1 success…

Dana screenshot shows the CUDA logo during the encoding process in MyDVD, so i need to know when it is invoked. So far i tried plain SD DVD and AVCHD. I will try BluRay format to see if it matters of not.
I know i can ISO mount the output or burn to DVD (in two step), if i understand correctly you mean a direct burn to DVD-RW without going thru a .iso file first?
For the benefit of this board, i will do the test tomorrow, but as of now, a two step approch is more than acceptable for me.

Post it someplace else - it is off topic for this Topic
