I have a major problem when burning DVDs (at the moment mostly from iso-files)

Every time I start a burn, the burning process hangs, sometimes halfway, sometimes at the end of the burning process. In the second case, I can watch the burned video afterwards.

In both cases, the burning software keeps running. I have to turn off the software with Program Manager and I can't eject the disk. I must restart the PC, and it takes a long time to shut down the PC and re-start. It's only after Vista has completely loaded again that I'm able to eject the disk.

And it doesn't look like a hardware failure because it happens with both my burners.

My configuration is:
HP Pavillion dv7 with Vista Home Premium sp1, 1 user account
Internal Optiarc DVD RW/Blu Ray
External Freecom DL DVD RW / lightscribe on USB
Version: Creator XE v. 10.1.261 (included with the Freecom external drive)

The problem also occurs when I completely shut down and disconnect the external burner.

I used to be a very satisfied user of the software, having first used Easy CD when it was still an Adaptec product and later Easy CD 6. I would like to continue this product, but at the moment it only seems to be able to create very expensive coasters.

Any idea what could be wrong, either with my drivers or with my software?

Your Freecom free version seems to be broken. You could contact Freecom or try a clean uninstall reinstall for your V10 with Vista. Links are in my signature...
