Meaning we have no sense?
Not one word above about a error message where the installation stops or what the problem is your having installing the software!

I too have experienced, am experiencing, what appears to be the same or similar installation issues. I have followed all of the advice found on your site, as well as other sites, to the "T", to no avail (re: Clean Install routines via startup programs disabled, folders deleted, registry edited, etc), and all resulting at one time or another in one of the following error situations:
1) A rollback being initiated after the SmartSound installation routines, which appear to occur during the Cinepack Code Pack installation.
2) Error 0643 followed with "Rolling back SmartSound"
3) No error reported, installation reports success, but there are no RC 2009 programs installed nor (ie: Program Files, Program Files (x86), not Program Data, with the exception of certain ancillary folders such as SmartSound and sometimes certain other folders.

At time of initial install (rebuild actually), I installed EMC9, which worked OK. June 29, 2009, purchased RC2009. Uninstalled EMC9, followed with installation of RC2009. Liked it. Except that I kept getting a nagging message about how the SoftwareManager couldn't find a browser and couldn't update. I read somewhere that it had to do with EMC9 not being correctly uninstalled. So I attempted to reinstall EMC9 in order to hopefully uninstall it presumably correctly, but that failed - couldn't install. I uninstalled RC2009 and tried to reinstall EMC9. No luck. I followed this with SoftwareManagerUninstall from Installshield which appears to have fixed the nag message and associated error (no web browser found coupled with something about the site being inaccessible). However, I have had absolutely no luck re-installing either EMC9 or RC2009. I have restored the system and the registry on several occasions to different states (all related to Roxio points of installation), I have cleaned the registry both manually and with various tools (see above), and have restored to the original state after the first uninstall of EMC9. I have removed MS Net Framework, all versions and updates, using both the standard uninstall procedures and Microsoft's .NET cleanup tool. I have installed the stand alone MS .NET 3.5 and uninstalled it. Among the things I've done have been to manually remove all registry and directory entries for all Roxio related files that I could locate - Sonic, Cineplayer, CinemaNow, and Roxio. I have not removed SmartSound due to it's use in Pinnacle Studio, even though RC2009 tends to screw up my Pinnacle Studio settings which I can easily fix. I keep meticulous copies of my registry and removed entries and files. I've have over 40 years of computer experience, and have been a PC professional since the inception of PCs. I have NEVER encountered problems with software the like of which I am experiencing with this. I suspect that there are either or both residual files, directories, and/or registry entries which tend to be somewhat cryptic in nature -- not easily identifiable -- which is causing the above issues. So, any help whatsoever would be appreciated. When Roxio is installed correctly, I like it. I would very much like to have it back again.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be cast on this most troublesome issue.
Additional comments (09/03/09): Both EMC9 & RC2009 were download versions. I have tried reinstalling RC2009 by 1) from the original download files, 2) downloading again, including the RoxioCreator2009_DownloadManager, 3) extracting all files from the downloads to an install folder and running Setup, 4) changing the Temp folder (default for extracted files using methods 1 & 2) from RAID 10 logical drive to the RAID 1 Logical drive as well as to non-RAID drives to eliminate possible cache and other issues, 5) tried the installations from both of my RAID arrays and single drives (haven't dried from cd/dvd though!), 6) have cleaned the Temp folders of all files preceeding installs, and 7) tried installing to both of my RAID "drives" and single drives. And, of course, clean/minimal boots as per "Clean Install" instructions as found on this site prior to each install.
