mad.gif Exatly as the SP4 of Creator 2009, the new version of CinePlayer does not play any dvd at all.
I am running Vista 32 (Ultimate) with an Nvidia. But I think the problem is in something else.
Anyone have the same problem? Ask for a solution is a miracle.

Try disabling Hardware acceleration and see if makes a difference. Other than that try updating drivers for the v card.

1. What kind of DVDs are you trying to play i.e. Commercial, Home Made, DVD recorder created, Software created?
2. Are you able to play the same DVDs in Windows Media Player?

rolleyes.gif Thanks for the help.

1) Any DVD. Commercial, home made, protected and not
2) This problem was the same of Creator 2009 AFTER the SP4. Before the SP4 ALL things were ok.
3) I am able to watch ANY dvd with Media Player and PowerDVD.
4) I can listen to the audio of the dvd
5) I CANNOT LISTEN to the audio of the MPEG format files. I can watch them but I have NO AUDIO!

Strange but true. I have to try to understand what kind of modify was done in Creator 2009 SP4, because I think is something introduced with that version.

Anyone else with the same problem?

Then why would the use of CinePlayer be a make or break deal? unsure.gif

rolleyes.gif If you create a NEW user, you CAN PLAY COMMERCIAL DVD with CinePlayer! Unbelievable, but TRUE!
Is someone able to explain WHY this happens?

Anyway you can watch DVD with CinePlayer ONLY with the new user. The old one does not work at all.

C2010 Cineplayer plays every DVD (commercial or home made) I have thrown at it without any problem or creating any special account. The same is true for C2009 with SP4.

Sounds like permission issue with the current user account. Try setting admin (local admin) permission to HKLM and HKCU in registry. If possible inherit from parent.

WHAT? I am the Administrator and the NEW account is a USER ONLY. And the NEW account (with no permissions because is a User Only account) can watch any dvd with CinePlayer. Obvious the permissions are not the question.

I think is something in the settings that are created with the new account. Settings that the Admin account (the one that install the software) have not.

When you mention logging "Administrator", are you logging as admin or user with admin privileges? Creating a new user is also setting admin rights in a new account. Eitherway the issue seems to be limited to your current account and may not be fixed until a Windows repair.

The problem was UAC - User Access Control. I turned off User Access Control and the messages went away
Personally, the first thing I do when installing Vista is turn UAC OFF. Try that and see if you can play a DVD with the original account.

angry.gif Thanks, but turning off the UAC is the FIRST thing I do with Vista. So, sure that is not the problem.

CinePlayer worked well with a new account, Admin and normal. Roxio say there is no solution but use a new account.

I will wait for Windows 7. In that case I have to reinstall all things (better than upgrade) and the problem should gone... rolleyes.gif

rolleyes.gif Finally I've found a solution for the problem that many have: no dvd playback with Cineplayer.

One workaround was to create a new account. With the new account Cineplayer works great.

The problem must be in the Language setting of Windows. I'm using the ITALIAN version and I think that who had the problem use a different language from english.

If you have Windows Vista or 7 Ultimate version, download the English Language and use it.

Start Cineplayer and you will be able to watch commercial dvd again.

Comeback to your language and Cineplayer will work again well!

I've given the ANSWER to the problem. You are using the French version of Windows. If you have ultimate version, download the english language and use windows in English. Start cineplayer and it will work again.

Comeback in french and Cineplay will be ok.
