Why do you have to get a "new" HVS recorder? Your current one should have the correct outputs.

How would the store know what you have/don't have at home???
All VCR’s have Audio Out! I am not up to speed on European models but I believe you have a SCART output on the back so all you need is a SCART adapter with Audio output???
If so, be careful when you go shopping! There are some that don’t pass along the Audio portion. Here is one example from Amazon UK – Here
As far as the software not working, wouldn’t you be better off contacting Roxio in Europe about this?
We can do it, but with translations in between, it gets rough.

Did you reinstall Easy VHS to DVD using the clean install instructions (Vista and XP) or just using the control panel?
Also, when the app doesn't launch, do you see an error message?
Jon
yes we used the clean install instructions before reinstalling and there where no error messages.
I'm almost all sick of roxio

I'm almost all sick of roxio
Hey Noroxio -
I hate to belabor the point, but this happens all the time:
Did you follow the clean install instructions exactly and follow all the steps? Also, you'll need to follow the Creator 2009 instructions for your OS (linked in my original post). They are identical for Easy VHS to DVD.
I know they are a pain in the butt, however, most folks skip the *temporary* disabling anti-virus applications which is super important. Also, be sure that when you install the software you have the USB capture device plugged into the back of your computer.
I hope this helps
